What's up with ALL the political debates? and all the other nonsense.

I can remember coming on here and it was all about boating, who was running what, cool projects, pics of nice boats ( and some hot chics too)

Wed night at tanner, and if there was banter, it was good humored, between guys busting balls.

I've said this before, but think of all the good folks that no longer post on here, guys that had/ have TONS of knowledge and experience, but would rather not even try to help for fear of the ridiculous back lash that comes along with it. I'm no saint, I was right in there for a while but took a break from it.

LOVE the site, and most of it's members, just missing when it was more about hot rod boating than politics/ religion/ and other garbage.

Let's just try and see if we can get this back up on the pad and keep it there.

It's just the world we're living in right now. Politics is first on a lot of peoples minds right now so its hard to leave it out of a normal discussion. There is also a lot of animosity on this forum towards one another in the political section so it carries over. I honestly would be perfectly ok with deleting the political section on this forum & anyone deemed making political arguments get warned & then banned. I'm all for free speech but honestly I don't think this is the place for heated political discussion. This forum should be our happy place. Just my two cents. RR

As Greg always says, it's not his site, it's the members site. So the problem lies with the members. There are few REAL performance boaters here anymore. Lots come just to solve a problem and then just leave.

But the number one difference between today and when S+F first started is the loss of humor. I used to come here and be entertained for hours. Some of those old threads were absolutely hilarious and MANY joined in. There was also the added bonus of having so many of those participants highly knowledgeable of our sport.

Now it's just "You think different so you suck". Who wants to read that crap all day? Where's the FUN????

I definitely dont think it should be deleted.. BUT the bleeding into the rest by some who post in the General boating about politics should be(the posts). Post politics in the political section..
Hopefully one day soon it will die down and get back to more boat, motor building , racing and posting get togethers etc..

It was created because all the politics was in the lounge. If it's deleted it will just return there.

Whatever happened to the "good old days" in the entire country? I think we know! The political section IS a disgrace I guess. It displays what's going on in our world. It keeps getting the blame for "ruining" the whole site. Making "good" people leave...The whole country is a disgrace. What the govt is doing to the populace is a disgrace. I get the feeling we just might be on our last legs as a free Republic. Kiss it all goodbye boys, we are on a sinking ship and there are some insane people drilling holes in the hull. But, let's not stop them, just let them continue on....We will all go down together, liberal and conservative alike.

It’s unfair to blame S&F for the political climate of the world. This site is no different than any other; the discussions center around what is on people’s minds. If you want something to be as it once was the only thing you can do to make that happen is engage in the same manner as you did when it was what you enjoyed and hope others engage in the same fashion. Someone has to lead us out of this mess and the best medicine for the excessive political diatribes to end is to simply ignore them.

threads with more or less the same topic as this one pop up regularly with someone who is no longer having fun jumping on for the first time in how long? Then blaming everyone still active for ruining their fun and to not even try for a few months by posting fun stuff first is pathetic. Judging others is not the way to make for a good time.

the BEST parties are when everything happening is alllllllllll good and pan when something silly or kind of bad happens? Everyone laughs not whines about who’s wrecking the party. Once the whining begins? It’s childish time and everyone starts pointing the finger and everyone else whining about who said something mean to who and the party is over and mommy has to take over and hand out punishments.

in this story your asking Greg who has his hands full personally at the moment I might add to play the role of mommy instead of leaving us men to be men and figure it out for ourselves. Well? We need mommy in here to stop the meanies from saying something offensive or are you going to grow a pair, man up, and focus on good times and ignore the ones who are no fun? The only solution is to simply let those annoying political threads run silent which Greg asked us to do. I have mostly ignore the entire section since he asked for this out of respect and to try and keep the focus where it belongs
