Not sure that 3 was used for anything - my Maryland friend, Ray Gemmill, was boat 3E back in the late 60's, early 70's.

In the 50's and early 60's it was. By the middle-late 60's I'm certain it was an available number. Like E and F Stock classes, somethings didn't last long.
