What is the weight difference? I would think this would require new boats for every team

Nope. I think I can work with that. The center of mass is no doubt going to be higher.

Yeah, this package resurfaced in Bremerton WA by a car collection auctioneer on Craigslist. Price was really out there (five figures if I recall?).

Overdrive box to bring the driveshaft input speed up to the Speedmaster to the same rpm as the 2 strokes

Mu son is writing the technical literature on this engine - says there are several ratios available.

Yes, that was in the first promo video. They can swap out overdrive gearboxes to get the ratio how they like it. They said the hope was that the boats wouldn't have to be completely re set up, for example they can run their same props cause the ratio can bring the propshaft WOT rpm to the same as the 2stroke.

Collateral Effects on The #6 Gearcase (2 stroke)

So, if they developed an "overdrive" gearbox, why do I get the feeling that the #6 SSM is completely different as well? (input shaft axis and length have changed and water pump now part of the "overdrive" box/)
