It's a Ron Jones hydro. He's just about ready to set a Kilo record and almost blow over doing it.

From what Jim Merten Jr. told me it was built for two engines and modified by his dad. Maybe Mercury had something to do with it also.
It looks like the drag boats that Ron Jones built. But Jim's may have been a round nose that was changed to a pickle fork.

BILL ALLEN hauled my MOLINARI , from Oshkosh to HAVASU. I SAT BESIDE HIM ALL THE WAY.
we stopped off at Nashville and bought two country and western tapes . One was a SWEETWATER REVIVAL—- the other was a CROSBY , STILLS AND NASH.
RIDGELL left 20 minutes before us hauling the refuelling rig —— we never did catch him up over the next 3000 miles .
BILL ALLEN was one of the nicest guys i ever met in my life.

Asse is quite definitely WILLABEE ———KUBE’S in the Merc jacket—— FLASH BUTLER—- usual laconic self ———- i did think it might be Mert, both had the same left hand love me gently quiff. But that was around the time Butler started with the company . Wasn’t me that called Mike,— ‘’BUTLER’. That was GG——- Cameraman with tripod could be anyone of a number—— all mercury personnel were good at multi-tasking.
Kid could have been any one of a number ——- Jims——Roys—Merts. — dont think Bobby was around until later. Whitebeard and camera was probably out of Joe Swifts office ! And SPECKY LEAVING TRUCK, COULD HAVE BEEN BECKY. SOMEBODY TELL ME WHO GOT WRONG ??????

So I'd say .....

Kubasta in white jacket, Gene Treichel bent over in trailer (I wasn't there), Bill Allan is the head above Kubasta (Butler hadn't joined Merc yet), don't remember the name of the guy getting out of the truck, he worked in the stockroom (a good friend of Bob Geary's), the guy manning the tripod is probably Dick Klawitter (hard to be sure when there's no head), don't know who the other cameraman is, seems like I should know the kid by Jimmy, but not sure (Hetzel with hair? )
