German reliable + Italian style + American affordability is what ... car/vehicle ?

Need some car suggestions (from the past & present models).

What vehicle do you think comes close to having the combination of …
    German tech reliability …
    Italian craftsmanship style …
with the economical price of an American production car?

Are any of these below possible contenders?

Shall I buy a Boxster with the wonky IMS?

My brothers and I are having a money pit competition. 1969 Lotus, 2002 Boxster, 2000 Corvette. My Lotus is a simple thing by comparison and parts are cheap.

Yeh, Just buy one that has had the IMS replaced and enjoy! That was a ****-up for sure. Compare a '69 911 to your Lotus for simplicity, ease to work on and reliability. How is the Lucas wonky electrical on that Lotus??

Well the Chrysler has a Mercedes front and rear suspension and Chrysler has merged with Fiat, an Italian company so there ya go.
The T-Bird has a Jag engine in it and from what I know is a nice car.

Looking at the Lada on post# 3. it made me think of the Yugo and the Citroen 2cv.

The 2cv going down the road, springing up & down always amused me.

    2cv.

    Yugo.

Didn't those have 3 lug nuts? LOL!!!

Air cooled 911, get a 74 or newer. They started galvanizing the tub 74 and up. You can always convert it to a long hood if that is the look you want.

On that list, the Corvette or the Lexus.

What kind of car are you after?

Do you mean German reliability or Japanese reliability?

How much do you want to spend?
