Intake structure, head and cam changes mainly-a little different exhaust note too. We will see how it runs if I ever get the boat back from the interior shop. Its going to be on my LCB and my goal is 100 every time out with 4 people and fuel --"might be a tall order but time will tell".

I am pretty confident that it won't take much more then has been done if anything to achieve what I am after. I might need to slow down on my personal food intake and increase my bicycle and rollerblade use because right now I am the "Pork Chop" in this project... My concern is the open tunnel/big case combination but I am running a Porta bracket that will allow me to go really high and I might need to stick a water pick-up on it like the Holbrook cheater system that I had on my STV--Brent will be involved with me to sort it out as we go...

I don't think the boys in Indiana would let any of those liberal hoes on their property but maybe.

Chaz = wunderin , why are the two angriest woman on TV named ... Joy and Whooopppieeee ..

Just think, if you add more duration to the bump stick and don't put any more compression in it (wind) . You can start lookin for a place that sells 83-85 octane YoUuGe SAVINGS ON FUEL PRICES ....

These guys that we are working with on the project are real backyard hackers. When their boss died he was headed to the top of the fleet in a the most competitive NHRA class. I don't have much doubt that what they are doing is going to work... but when I get whooped by you, I am sure that I will feel different and have to come crawling back asking to make my boat run on better then the 89 octane for sale up and down the river. Hauling fuel cans are in my past and I am not going to be tied to a short rope because of fuel ability ever again.

What kind of mileage is mike getting with the 300r on his lcb? I meant to ask him at loto. I’d expect double the mileage of a 300x at cruise. We Have repowered a ton of boats to DI from carb motors and it’s usually double the mileage r might be a little better.

I’m sorry, I missed this earlier.
Pretty sure 8000 hours worth of fuel makes 80 oil changes look like a flash in the pan. My math shows about $1/hr oil costs. Even if you were conservatively burning 25 gallons/hour of 32:1 premix in your old school 2-stroke, that’s (8000 hrs x 25 gallons/hr)= 200,000 gallons of fuel. 200,000 gallons/32 nets 6250 gallons of 2-stroke oil. That you put out through the prop, some burned, some not.
In comparison, my 2007 Denali just turned 285,000 miles and has 7030 hours and counting. I put 6 qts of 10W-30 Mobil1 and an AC filter on it every 5000 mile oil change. It’s typically ~$35 each change, and the local equipment rental place takes my 20 gallon drum about every 10 months and empties it into their oil tank for their furnace which heats the shop. (I keep a family of 5 on the road, so there’s plenty of oil changes)
At the end of the day, the fuel savings should offset everything quite nicely. Pretty sure there’s not too many 2-strokes with original sealed engine at 8000 hours either.
I know the 400R on my boat averages 3.5 mpg every trip out, and gets 3@85. 50 hours last year and only 10 this year. So an oil change per year is fine with me. (100 hours is recommended, I do 50 because oil is cheap compared to an engine) Plugs and belt every 5 years even better. As much as I dislike no wakes, I NEVER worry about fouling plugs or loading up.
I miss the sounds and smells of my old carby 2.4L, but enjoy using my boat with great peace of mind.A problem is only a problem when viewed as a problem...

For those who boat that worry about gas and oil used .. I saw an add in todays Palm Beach post ... they are running a big sale on Kia's ...

For those that can't mix up a batch of DIY octane . Well you deserve a low compression 4-stroke ..
