1976 - Introduction year of the 200 hp V6. Based on a number of planned – and convincingly executed – misdirects, Mercury was convinced we were coming with a 175 hp V6…... SURPRISE!!

    Pittsburgh Trial Impound

Years later, (1994) is when OMC, Waukegan asked me and Don Kueny to fly to Sweden and try to locate the OMC King Cobra drives at the bottom of the Baltic sea. We hired lots of divers and spent a "ton of money" but no one was really sure about the exact location of the accident. We found a lot of stuff over the two weeks on the bottom of the Baltic Sea but not the King Cobra drives. OMC/Donzi lost the case and was forced to pay over $7 million to the father. I think Don Kueny was at the final trial. He is the one who told me OMC/Donzi lost the case. I know it was in Sarasota and was appealed but lost again.
Whatever happened to the F1 boat that ended up on the beach in a crowd at the Pittsburgh race killing a spectator? The boat immediately went into impound and both the driver and boat were never seen again. I never heard anything about pending legal charges or jury trial results..

    Stockholm GP 1983

I lost the rear boat cowling with the race number 8 and my racing friend Alan Nimmo offered his Molinari rear boat cowling because Alan had some technical issues and could not continue racing.
With help from my friends and OMC we got the Alan rear cowling to fit and the race organisation allowed me to continue to race with #15 instead of #8.
    Great memories.

More about the Stockholm F1-V8 GP 1983. Beautiful location in the heart of Stockholm.
Entry list F1 & F3 and the long big race course. The red X is the location for my exclusive Evinrude dealership.

I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

    @Instigator ..
I am on the road in our motorhome and bad signal.
If I remember right the #15 Molinari boat Alan Nimmo used 1983 is the same aluminum boat Renato drove in 1982.
Not sure how many aluminum Molinari was built 1982.

    Wow!

Had never heard of an aluminum tunnel boat.
    Way cool.

Thx for the history lesson Lars.

    And enjoy your road trip.
