    Strong dock.

If you have spent any time at LOTO, you see how people consistantly abuse alcohol. I have no personal knowledge of this accident and I am not casting judgement as to if the guy was drinking or not but I see it way more then I like every time we are up there "it really stands out to me as non-drinker". The second point that I would like to make is that if you are going to run on plane at night, you can now buy night vision cameras that wire into your nema buss "it would be a cheap investment compared to the cost of an injury".

Hope for a full recovery to all that were injured.

    Joe

Story on this is that an older gentleman with his wife had a medical event(heart attack), and fell onto the throttles while docking. He is not in great shape so sometimes it's not always as it seems.

Joe didn't accuse anyone of anything. My comprehender interpreted it to mean as a sober person he see's too many drunks behind the wheel of high powered boats.
I'll add to it that it goes for anywhere from the Keys to Maine to the west coast. L-tards like AOC already hate us, don't give em a reason to make it worse.
I also hope that for those involved a full recovery, and those that got their **** tore up to be fixed or replaced ...

When I first met my wife she was working a big medical conglomerate. About 10 am
one morning a nice old lady went into the eye glasses place, picked up her new rims. Got in her Caddy fired it up, put it in reverse, had a "condition" foot on the floor ran into about a half a dozen cars belonging to girls that worked in the offices, before she was wedged on a curb. The Insurance company said "It was an act of god" and refused to pay out for parked car damages. Most of the girls didn't have "key off" comprehensive to cover it. Best I remember , none of them got their car fixed in that deal ...

When I first seen this I thought it was alcohol too. I mean, we have all seen it, people way too drunk to be near the water, let alone operating a boat. I wait until boat is on trailer to even have one. Just too much risk not enough reward.

Regarding insurance companies, they suck. My brother had his car parked in Michigan which is a no fault state. Lady hit him, while he was parked, not in the car and insurance company said no pay, cause no fault. I put the plow on my truck (it was summer) and he took it over to the insurance company and asked the guy which car was his. Explained that he was going to ram it, no fault, right? He did get the company to pay. I just found that ridiculous. I get it if both cars are moving and such, but if the car is parked, nobody even in it? Seriously?

I sincerely hope that I did not insinuate or accuse anybody with my post. JPEROG clearly stated he had no knowledge of the event and even stated how it stood out to him as a "non-drinker" situation. Sorry JPEROG if that was conveyed.

Ya just never know when "oh chit" hits, or cause, and hits fast. Agree a lot more accidents because alcohol, but one never knows. Some the old salts Ill Chain of Lakes remember Ralph Kozan.."Uncle Ralph", Merc wizard on Lawrence, north Chicago. He "massaged" my XS1500. ( I see the business still there a search, but I don't know if Ralph still with us)

Anyway, back in the 70's one his sons, and (can't remember if fiancée or wife then, but still young adults) were out at night Lake Michigan. I don't know or remember the many details, but coming in on plane, don't know speed but with all the city background lights misread the harbor lights entrance, and slammed into breakwater wall.

Leave it at that, but I've only been to one double funeral, and hope I never have to go to another......................

Man, does that bring back memories. Ralph is a great guy. Makes sense he was called Uncle Ralph. I did not know him from anybody but lived fairly close to there from when I was born until I was in my early 20's. I used to go into his shop to buy things and he recognized that I was not rich and was willing to do the work myself, some what out of necessity. I cannot tell you how much of his time I took up and he was always happy to help diagnose and then explain how to fix what was wrong with my 1150. Nobody else would do this back then, not that I knew. You went into a marina and it was either spend spend spend or get out. And this was back before internet on personal computers with online forums. You really had to look around to find information. How lazy some of us have become, myself included.

The sight of that marina was so out of place 30 years ago, location wise in Chicago, but he always had a yard full of boats and then some. Marie's was one of my favorite pizza places, right across the street from him, and who from that area is not familiar with the Admiral Theater? I am surprised the marina is still up and running as the real estate there is SO expensive and the taxes are outrageous. Friend of mine owns a comparable piece of property just about a mile west on Lawrence, The Sicilian Bakery, and his property taxes paid this year was just over $40,000. Gotta bake a lot of bread to cover that nut. Heck, the house I grew up in recently sold for half a million and last I talked to an old neighbor, had been converted into a 3 unit apartment building. How that area has changed, and not for the best.

Man Robby, you just keep bringing the memories back, THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!
