This is the same boat that I was leading the Paris race in 1971 until after 5 hours & about 10 minutes threw a road. Had a 20 minute lead over Downard

I'm sure glad you warned me about the mixing of a couple of events on this one video. One moment I'm watching the white Molinari #42 of Renato/Wilson heading up the back straight and when it comes out of the next turn it's a red #25! Fun to watch .....

    Lake Como 1970 .....

I was there, but really don't remember Scotti doing any testing near Molinari's shop. However, I do recall that one year he and a friend or two did stop by the shop to visit with Renato . I don't recall if they arrived by boat or car, but they were allowed in and were on the lower floor having a fun chat! Most of our boats were there in some stage of being rigged. That might have happened in 1971, do you remember Scotti 's visit?

The entry list reads that #31 was being driven by Scotti/Carlino and the picture shows #31 is a Molinari.

    ( including the #31 Molinari/Evinrude driven by Scotti/Carlino I wrote about 2017.)

This is a picture of the 16' sprint that Merten drove to victory in the 1970 Miami 225. It was put in a box and shipped back to Renato's shop to be set up for the Paris race. Merten & Sirois were the scheduled drivers, but Merten stuffed it during his first stint and had to withdraw. Tom Stickle was paired with Don Clark in a new 17' sprint, but Clark had that horrible accident during his first stint and the boat was knocked out of the race. That left Stickle with no boat and Sirois with no co-driver. Garbrecht moved Stickle to Merten's spot and, without any time in the boat, Stickle drove the nuts off of that little sprint. Even though they managed to earn a fifth place after the time lost to the accident, everyone agreed that the boat was too small for Paris water! That looks like Stickle at the wheel in this picture.

The 16' sprint in it's shipping box at Merc Racing in Oshkosh .....

    WOW..nice info Willabee.
Mercury and OMC was spending tons of money for the Paris 6 hour race. Very popular back then.
Paris was always in the beginning of October and that means the next years racing budget for OMC.
I am surprised to see the #20 boat was using a Mercury dual ride guide steering.

Yes, Cesare Scotti won the Milan, Italy race in one of his own built boats with Evinrude V4 power 1971

I think it was the late, great Dale Earnhart that said ....."they don't call it the Daytona '499' do they?"

In 1971 Cesare Scotti raced in Skokloster, Sweden in his Scotti-Craft.
This was the year I started racing and have a few memories from the race.
As an 17 year old Evinrude supporter i was holding for Scotti, but I guess he ended up third.
I have to add...this pretty big race outside Stockholm was the wake up call for me..I wanted to go boat racing international when there was an opportunity.
OMC/Evinrude Sweden gave me that 1973..

In addition, Steverino mentioned that he had heard Barry Woods had purchased a full year of Scotti's production. I tried to confirm that on BRF. The only response I received was from Ron Hill. He said that Barry co-drove a Scotti in the 1971 Paris race. Barry told Ron that after the race he went to Como and made the deal with Scotti. Ron thought it was for all of the boats produced in 1972.
Barry might have bought some of Scotti's 1972 production but I don't think he bought it all.
If I could find my issue of Powerboat with Havasu 1972 I think many of the OMC factory boats were Scottis including Sanders winning boat.

Well..not sure but there was 5 Scotti-Craft boats in the top 20 result from Havasu 1972.
Maybe Barry sold some of them to OMC..who knows except Barry..
