    New to Hydraulic Steering Systems

My DIY boat build need a steering setup. A mechanical setup just won't work, I don't have the room for cables.
At speeds above 60 mph, from my research, hydraulic is the only way to go.
I believe to got the cylinder covered (HC 5345) will bolt right up to my Merc.
Its the Helm I am having some understanding with. Research tell that 1.7 cu. in. not good above 60mph.

    2.0 vs 2.4
Which one is better, safe at 70-85 mph?
Is there a REAL difference in driving?
Will one turn quicker then the other?
I have read several articles, some mention this, some don't.

    (97 Merc 225 hp)

    Experienced feedback much appreciated!
If you think this is fun, wait til next weekend!

I have the 2.0 sea star pro helm and high pressure hoses on my AE-21 works great , 90 mph so far , the 2.0 is the standard sea star pro helm for single engine setups I think.

Thank you! Just what I needed/wanted to hear.
Searched this helm and the ad said 4 -1/4 turns lock to lock...
    works for me.
kinda pricey, but then what not when it come to boats.

    Thanks gentlemen.

Regular 53xx cyl and standard 2.0 helm vs a pro cyl and helm at 80ish mph?

    Thoughts?

Make sure you get the right helm for your boat. Mine runs a dual opposed system, which the right side of the helm hooks to the left side of motor/ cylinder.
