Have you not learned yet Willa————- if it’s black it’s not a fact !
Seven out of nine is not an acceptable “fact” !
Lasse still has nightmares of Seebold beating all fifteen V8’s with a bored out two litre ON motor ——- still not an acceptable “FACT”——
Said I wasn’t going to get into it ever again with the “FACTS”——- I try to be nice—— but I do get a tad pissed off with fictitious facts occasionally and the same piccies OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN———
Dont have enough time left in my life to watch films—- tv programs—- or “JONRUDE FACTS” more than just the once ! End of.
Seven out of ten is about the right results ratio of OMC V MERCURY —— except now it’s NO CONTEST—- they’re dead and gone ! Only memories of the few results they did have LONG LONG AGO . ,

WOW..I love it..!!
One simple post with the fact about Johnnie Sanders (Johnson V4) single engine win in Havasu 1972 in the "Hot Singles" thread is starting all this outburst..
The fact is what it is and I know Merc won a few more with a bunch of outboards on the transom before 1972. There is a thread for that..Hot Multi's.
Have fun..I do..!!

more fun .....
Not a big deal, was just a statement of fact ..... Mercury did win 7 of the 9 OWC's at Havasu. Since you had mentioned one of the race winners, thought I'd try to post pictures of all of them ..... the pictures are in the right place.
The picture above is from the Havasu OWC 1971, the last race that allowed multiple engines. As everyone knows, Bill Sirois won his second championship in a twin Mercury Twister I powered Molinari. Reggie Fountain finished second and Harold Eis came in third, both powered by twin Merc's. First place in the single engine category and fourth overall went to Renato Molinari/Bob Hering in a Molinari powered by the Mercury C6.

Barry Woods .....
Bet that thing looks like it's goin' 120 when it's just sittin' on the trailer.

I first met Barry in 1970, he was running Marathon hull with twin Mercury stackers at Havasu. He had some kind of accident and had to beach the boat. I don't remember what he ran in 71, but at Parker in 72 he was teamed with Fred Hauenstein Jr. and they finished 3rd in a Schulze/Evinrude single. I've often wondered how he ended up running for the OMC Team, who contacted who and why? Back in 70 and 71, I don't think anyone at Merc or OMC realized how talented this guy really was.
His damaged Marathon twin .....

I don't know the complete story about Barry, but he showed up at Galveston with I believe was his mod U and ran in the second race. Next thing I know is he ran the rotary at Provo. While he didn't finish, he lead while he ran. After that he ran rotaries anywhere they ran and lead most of the time. He was truly a gifted race boat driver.

I think Jack Leek got to know Barry more when jack tried to buy new Scotti boats for the factory teams and found out Barry had bought all Scottis first years production and Scotti boats was a very small outfit I was told he used to borrow some of Molinaris boat builders if he could.Well they were cousins after all.
