The picture posted by Stoker2001 at the top of this page of the multi colored STV Mod VP's is one of the 3 STV's that I owned at the same time. Hank Hogan bought this one new and I bought it from him several years later. After Hank had the big blowover on the Suwannee in another STV Mod VP he bought this one back. I never knew where it went after that. It was a Ruark Summerford Boat and the glass work was arrow straight on it.

When I bought it from Hank it had a 20" engine on it. I changed it to a 15 but did it with a jackplate turned upside down instead of cutting the transom as has been done now. It had cable/pulley steering on it then but looks like it's been removed. Why anyone would make that change is beyond my comprehension, with the cable/pulley being superior in every way including weight. Of my 3 STV Mod VP's this one was the best running. It never had any mid range hop. It's not a light lay up and the deck doesn't creek or groan when walking on it. My solid red boat sounded like it would break through if I put my weight on the deck. Hank ordered both rear canopies with it and it had a rear seat. That's the way it still was last time I saw it.

found out some more info today.Bill Bought it off a guy named Tim Hunter, supposably he bought it with a drag moto and converted to a promax 225 and it came to Tim with hyd steering.this pic looks like they filled holes where pulley would go with running lights.when Bill bought it,he traded the 225 for a box stock 280 with rev limit removed.I took this pik as you can see some of my white/red Mirage in left bottom corner.Bill Made a pass that day with unmodded sporty gearcase and OTB 32 lightning ET at 126mph with his wife in back seat!!!I guess you only live once..at 73 years young,i hope I have half his energy when I get there...
