    Merc v-6 2 piece adapter plate cooling set up

    Damned if I can find the old posts here? anyways 2.4 efi b/p with all steel sleeves on a stock 1988 200hp 2 piece plate Whats the best way to plumb it?
    I may be slow but im ahead of you. *hit's only ankle deep but you went in head first.

    Need good temp gauge from head.
    Need good water pressure gauge from block.
    Rig it stock with popit valve and correct cover.
    Both Tstats in heads.
    3/8hose head to head then down port side head.
    Mercury used that design for a reason.

    I ran my BP 8000 rpm with crome and steel sleeves this way much safer than running it to cold. The two pieces gets rid of a lot of block water though the bottom of plate that you can't see..

    PM PYRO on here he ran that set up on his BP but think his was NiC.

    Thanks dave,I guess I need the info for both steel and nic motors as I just rebuilt two powerheads that are 2.4 200hp nic carb motors and both have one steel sleeve.

    Coated motors don't care where you run them at within reason, steel needs to be warm.

    Just make sure that cyl has enough piston to bore clearance, more important if you run forged pistons.
