Frank - No, powerheads weren't mine. Since compression numbers were fine when you picked her up, I want to try before I dump more money.

Jeff - Thanks for pics/info. Going to put two bolts to play it safe.

Frank, in that first picture the 3 missing bolts/studs bolt into the can and are important to have a good bite not only for steering but to keep can married to plate. If snapped check for play in mid section. The 2 existing are shorties just into plate.
Not knowing how long they have been missing, I would also make sure your 2 tiller arm bolts going into the plate are OK...JMPO

Jeff, you can never over kill good steering setup on a fast boat especially on a weapon.....

Tony - Pulled it apart today and you were right, three snapped studs in the can. Oh well, Rich is going to have to bail me out again. Didn't see much play in the mid.

Seems like I have another boat that doesn't like water.

Yes, usually when they are missing like that is what happen. Only way out/losing those 3 is removing PH.
Cats are hard on equipment especially mids, cases and saddles. Did they shear flush with can? If so, I say something was moving.
I suggest when putting things back you use the correct PH washers especially on the 4 longer studs. They will sit in the can bosses which will help the can from possibly moving around.
You can also use grade 8 studs/bolts like the front 2 are with good grease, red tite on threads....All JMPO!

    Mario, NICE!!!

My saga continues -I just picked up my mid last night (besides the 3 snapped studs, there was a nice size crack hid). I still have to put it together and throw both powerheads back on.
Picked up some new Brucatos to replace analog EFI boxes.
I just need to pick up 4 head gaskets (holy moly did they get expensive) and I should have all the parts to finish her.
Hopefully, be on the water with her in 1-2 weeks or so. (lol)

Let me know if you need help with parts Frank, or if you want to drop her off. I'll finish it up for you. I'll give you a turn key boat. I also have a perfect 20" midsection for sale, everything but the powerhead and lower unit.
