to make a comment like that, for sure, you never drove one. from someone who set competition records and won many many races in one, i can tell you they were not death traps. you might want to reevaluate your sources. you do not live to race 25 years driving death traps.

I agree with Jim I drove one with a BP it really handled pretty well. The only bad thing I remember that it had a manual trim that you had to hand pump that got old.

had a bp on mine to start with. set a 5 mile competition record in u class before power trim. then put a stacker powerhead on it. still no trim.

I never got to see you drive this one but I do remember the great battles you had with Jim Everett in JP at Lake Alford and Lake Hollingsworth. Some of the best I can remember always a pleasure to watch.

Sources? Try the gossip / rumor pit at local races(LOL)..........am actually glad to hear this myth get cleared up. Since you actually had one, from the look of the photo, it looks like the racing top / cowl was attached to the existing deck lines of the production hulls (Challenger / Contender). Is that how CT 15's were built?
I actually saw a Challenger (14 ft) at a dealer once but never saw the bigger one (16 ft Contender). Were these boats just "stretched" (hull length) or did they have unique beam dimensions.

This is the one that will give you two broken legs. A 10 foot GW Invader with a Merc 800. I think these were rated for a maximum of 35 hp.
