RUB RAIL----Advice

I have been researching changing this rub rail that i damaged last summer.All i have found is Taco stuff--and theyre EXPENSIVE!
Anyone have a cheaper alternative??Its a 24ft long jet boat..I guess i could just splice in a section but im afraid thatll be very noticeable ,,Idk,what yall think??Hers a pic,yea,i swiped another boat trying to roost them..Dumbest **** ive ever done..

If that rubber strip can be purchased by itself or replaced with one that will fit in that aluminum channel, then I think you could splice in a new rubrail section and then just replace the entire rubber strip as one piece. Then it wouldn’t be very noticeable at all, and it would save you the cost and headache of full replacement of the rubrail.

right on,i was thinking the same thing.I was searching Tacos site and found some solid rub rail,no seperate center piece but man its expensive..Just thinking about different options..What you said is probably best option..thanks

If you are talking about solid stainless yes it’s very expensive. People use hollow back not solid.
That same rail you have for a 21 should come in under $450 maybe cheaper.

I found the insert on E-Bay, just matched up the dimensions. 50' was about $75

i was talking about a full replacement not just an insert
you are going to have a tough time getting the insert to seat if that rail is as damaged as the photos look, the alum itself should also be available, check local not ebay to avoid truck freight costs as it comes in 12,16 or 20' sections depending on style and availability. a local guy also has a sample ring of rails and inserts to insure an accurate replacement

Do they have any marine used parts places by you or a consignment marine store like we have up here? You might find a section with the corner already bent.

new section of rail with no shipping is like $60-$80, i doubt you will find a bent piece sitting somewhere it takes up way too much room like that. alum rails like that are easy to bend right on the boat
