Jus thought I'd say.... changed coils, boxes and wires today on the 'ol 260!
The one's I've been running came on the engine and were 23 years old! Even though it seemed to run fine, I've noticed lately when cold it would take sometimes 4-6 seconds to initially fire and then it would sometimes sneeze even though I was on the choke.....which kept me thinking possibly a weak spark as it has new CCR reeds.
Haven't been over to the lake but just hit the starter when I got done here at the shop and it immediately fired up.
$500 is alot to spend on ignition parts but Figure I got my money's worth out's the original!!!
I went with 6 new coils, wires and the CDI high perf boxes!Last edited by WillySteve; 04-02-2018 at 05:36 PM.

What wires did you end up using? Merc coils?

Mine was twisting past 8k seemingly ok but there's a noticeable difference in idle up to 2k! I'm presuming the coils more than the rest but I have no spark tester other than jumping a plug gap and some did look kind'a yellow!
I always liked the old CD ignition on the inlines....they would straighten out yer pxcker when they popped off and jump an inch!!WillySteve Hendricks

Magnecor ELECTROSPORTS Series Ignition Cables are intended for use as factory replacement wires on engines with computerized engine management systems and engines with carburetors and/or mechanical fuel injection. These wires are particularly suited for use with aftermarket electronic engine management control and performance ignition systems that require resistance to be present.
