I dont think the Velden Racing F1-V8 boats was shorter than the Second Effort boats.
    This is Francois Salabert's #3 Velden/Benson&Hedges/Johnson F1-V8 in Lyon, France 1985.
    The #15 is Canada's Mark Rotharmel in a Burgess/Evinrude V8.

Well powerabout, its a very good question I do not have the answer to. Some is going to say they was destroyed by OMC/BRP but that's not true. They are somewhere out there.
I know my F1-V8 engine is owned by a Police officer in Sweden and he do not want to sell it back to me..
Ben Robertson have one, maybe two. I think two in UK, one 12 inch mid and one 6 inch mid.

I heard the OMC race team crushed lots of stuff from the transporter?
Were the majority of the engines leased or owned?

This is an interesting picture from 1988 I found in the cyber world showing #3 Francois Salabert's Second Effort boat (SE-VII) Evinrude V8 next to #1 Cees Van Der Velden and his Velden Racing boat with a Johnson V8.
The Second Effort boat looks longer because of the canopy over the driver, but are not.

Not sure but most of the team/drivers I know purchased the equipment from OMC/Second Effort.
