UAE-based Team Victory has unleashed a high-tech F1 Powerboat that embodies the same cutting-edge engineering as the legendary Emirati squad’s multiple-title-winning offshore powerboats.
The Victory Team F1 Powerboat has been designed to conform to all the regulations in the keenly contested F1H20 category, and it could be one of the leading contenders in the 2018 championship. Underpinned by a high-strength hull constructed from carbonfibre, Kevlar, synthetic fibre, Airex and Nomex, the boat is not just extremely rigid, it’s also ultra-light.
Fully designed and manufactured by Team Victory team at its Dubai headquarters, the F1 boat is powered by a 2.5-litre two-stroke Mercury engine that pumps out 400hp at 9,500 rpm. It can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just four seconds and is capable of reaching 220km/h flat out.
Given that F1 boats must conform to tight guidelines, the difference between the winning vessel and the rest is the creativity in its design and accuracy/precision of its manufacturing. Chairman of the Board of Directors at Team Victory, HE Huraiz Al Mur Mohammad Bin Huraiz, says the fact that the F1 Powerboat is designed and manufactured in-house by the Victory Team means they have the know-how to modify it within the rules and regulations to produce a winning boat.“As the flagship UAE team we want to be No 1 at all times,” he said. “We are looking forward to competing in the 2018 F1H20 World Championship and the season ahead looks very promising. At the moment there are seven rounds in the championship, but that should grow to 8-9 races in the next two years. This will enable us to showcase Team Victory team in many different venues around the world.”

    Tom Percival in his #10 Hodges/ITC/Evinrude F1-V8 1984.
This must be pretty close to his sad accident in Liege, Belgium when Tom lost his life.
Tom and me had the some ITC sponsor/paint job in the F1-V8 race outside Paris 1984.

I did see the boat in the pit at the St. Louis Champboat race 2008 and pretty sure there was no powerhead. This was before Greg Jacobsen purchased the boat so I dont think he has the powerhead used during the World Record.

Ever notice that every Somali pirate boat has Yamaha C series engines on them? Usually a 3 cylinder 70/90.

Mazda exec details plans for rotary range-extended EV coming in 2019

By Viknesh Vijayenthiran | Motor Authority

    (Mazda)

Tesla gets a lot of flak for its delays in promised technology, but the electric car company looks like a straight-A student next to Mazda which has been has been talking about reviving the rotary engine going back to the demise of the RX-8 sports car in 2012.
Mazda says it is committed to the rotary, though the automaker has flip-flopped over whether the engine will be used to power a sports car or simply serve as a range-extender for an electric car. We've seen concepts for both, and just last year a Mazda executive said the company may end up going with both options.

    A Message from Southeast Toyota
Time to take on the day.

Now Mazda's sales chief in Europe, Martijn ten Brink, has revealed to Dutch group AutoRAI that Mazda's electric car launching in 2019 will be available with a rotary range-extender. The exec said the electric car will be based on the same underpinnings as the next-generation Mazda 3, and hinted that a crossover body style would make sense.

We also have a few details on the rotary range-extender itself from ten Brink's interview. He said it would be a single-rotor engine without a turbocharger. He also said the compact design should take up no more space than two shoe boxes, and because of the smoothness of the rotary engine, drivers of Mazda's electric car may not even notice when the engine is operating.

    (Mazda)

Mazda has already shown an electric car with a rotary range-extender: the Mazda 2 RE Range Extender concept unveiled in 2013. Its rotary was a single-rotor 0.33-liter unit that with a full tank of gasoline could provide an additional 111 miles of range. Based on ten Brink's comments, it's likely a similar setup will feature in Mazda's electric car due next year.
Unfortunately, ten Brink didn't have anything to say on a rotary-powered sports car from Mazda. The Japanese firm has struggled with meeting emissions regulations with high-performance applications of its rotary engine. The company has also described building the business case for a sports car as another issue. Those are two major factors standing in the way of a new rotary-powered sports car.
