Not one original idea, could have put Bugs Bunny in charge. WVB is laughing, great launch though. Something like the right combination of elements released in a decaying orbit to re-enter as a timed event to produce a brilliant light display over a predetermined area. But a car

The original idea is that its a private business and he is the first ever. Bugs bunny better have a big wallet and balls if wants to compete against Musk. He is working on several innovations that are his ideas and doing them with his money. The space growth this next decade will be incredible if he stays in it.

Probably put in low orbit, burn up way down. Did ya see the rockets land? DAMN, amazing! Rest..a Tesla for payload, fake "pilot in it? No loss!
But on the Saturn 5. It WAS a beast, but this monster way better. Remember back 70's friend in Cocoa Beach. Down there for spring break. Some smaller rocket launched and DAMN LOUD! Impressive! Gotta love innovation great minds!

We were in Orlando today around the scheduled blast off time and really wanted to see the launch live! But it got pushed back due to strong winds aloft and we eventually took off for NC.

I had a whole bunch of stuff typed then decided why bother.
3rd burn successful, starman placed on a trajectory to enter an elliptical orbit around the sun intersecting the orbit of mars. It will be in the orbit for millions, if not billions of years, nothing is going to burn up in reentry.
Musk, and companies he has started have revolutionized the payment industry, automotive industry, electric storage industry, solar industry and the space industry but hey, there’s nothing new to see here so move along............Mark

All a great show. But for what we as taxpayers have put into it, it should be.

While it seems to be a fairly accurate number it’s primarilly Tesla and Solar City receiving those subsides and many of them are for the expansion of manufacturing and have a significant net benefit to the entity providing the subsidy. SpaceX, OTOH has very few subsidies, mostly related to their Texas launch / test facility. The bulk of their income comes from government launch contracts and in the end they are saving the country billions due to their significantly lower cost.
It’s smart business, the subsidies are there for anyone to compete to get, I don’t consider it in any way derogatory to Musk or his businesses. YMMV.Mark
