[QUOTE=CDave;3019868]After watching the SpaceX launch and the spaceman footage it kinda makes me wonder what those people who actually believe the Earth is flat are thinking.

Difference between subsidies and actual contract for hire. NASA went into contract with Space-X to provide re-supply missions to the ISS, along with future manned missions. There's also several DOD missions either already completed or upcoming in the near future. Let's not forget, our tax dollars are going to Russia every time we send someone up to the Space Station. How sad is that?

Also, let's not forget the dozens of customers on the backlog that are not government affiliated and are awaiting their turn in line to get their satellite into LEO.

SpaceX was founded in 2002. In less than 16 years, they've accomplished things that took decades for NASA to do, not even counting the things NASA never did. SpaceX has now successfully landed 23 (believe that's the number with the 2 last week) first stage boosters, and already sent a handful back up for re-use. The 2 they landed last week, were re-use.

The privatized Space game is growing and will only get more exciting in the coming years. Blue Origin is a few years behind Space-X, but they will be next. They are completing their manufacturing facility behind the visitor center, and they already have a launch site at the Cape. Believe 2019 we'll start to see some launches from them. It's also been a huge boost for Brevard County. Between the housing market crash and the Shuttle program shutting down, they really took a hit.
