I always wondered if the deeper bow ahead of the steps also allowed for the boat to have a true sleeper area. Pretty unique for a 22' boat.

or ski racing they prefer to run less trim and or get the bow down for rough water races without the drag penalty

That makes seance. I've seen pictures of them running 150s on them. I guess that's a class they must run over there.

To me the question is still a good one "steps on a small boat"??

I dont think I would call that a step

    Merry Christmas!

someone said its a pro ski boat, maybe it allows the stern to slide easier and makes more of a wake when the ballast tanks are filled?
Lots of boats do not have strakes that run all the way to the stern, guys are constantly removing and adding them to all kinds of boats

    these are steps

Some info boys. The 22' Bernico F2 Extreme was designed from scratch and in 2009 they decided to adjust the design to chase a record while still having rough water options. The design spec (which used extensive simulation tech) specifically called for 300+hp motors to allow it to break the 100 mph barrier back then. That hull did 103mph and is noted in "The List". In 2010 Bernico made it commercially available to the public ski race market and it went on to win a ton of races. I believe that mariawhitetrash here bought the 103mph hull and then raced it over a few years. Not ski race, but ocean racing where that front step design works big time. I think he initially used a 200hp motor. Both he and 28Skater are extremely familiar with the step design but IMO I can see where you drop that fat bow in rough water and it eats chop with a ballast tank. If the water is flat, the bow is out of it completely and it runs 100mph with a stock 300XS.........well 98.1 actually.

Thanks and agree, the Laveycraft is set up to ski race but isn't the hull the exact same bottom that you would buy for pleasure? Maybe I am missing something though. Be interesting if you have seen one with a 300 as well. This SOB looks like it's really big 22 footer and comes in two deck configs.
