I was at this race in Nashville (6/2016) and talked with Ray Briefly about his boat/motor. His wife had asked him what he wanted to do for his birthday.....and his reply was he'd like to get the boat out and run the Nashville race. It won it's first heat race with Tim Seebold in that heat! Not sure what happened on Sunday. Ray drove the boat very well and it performed well in the first heat.

I never heard that Yamaha built their own gearcases before. What year was this?

I got all the info from Ted Zahorski
He was part of the Yamaha team developing racing V-6 powerheads, midsections and gearcases.
Ron Anderson also told me the same thing at an Old Farts Meeting in Naples a few years ago.
Yamaha copied a Merc racing gearcase but run in to some gear problems after a few hours running them.

HeeHee maybe Yamaha copied that measurement from OMC's first V6 race engines with the longer V4 mid sections..

A good time for this Svera.se post again..!!!

A Rotary – (Wankel) wins the 2 liter class in Paris 6 hours 1970.

    8 November, 2014

Yes, I have totally forgot about this but two friends of mine drove a
V-bottom boat powered with a NSU Rotary (Wankel) to victory in the UIM Class R-3. (Max 2 liter inboards)

Here is a few pictures of Krusenstierna and Zetterstrom´s green Joker boat # 115 powered by a NSU Rotary – (Wankel)
    Red arrow.
This boat was used in many races in Sweden over a few years and was doing very good.
