Dave is right...my boating IQ has gone up 20 full points since I joined here. My general IQ is on a sharp steady decline however...but I think that's only cuz of bad genetics.

Welcome...that's a serious fishing machine you got there!

The Flare and several other brand boats were made when mako boats went bankrupt. The molds were used to make boats by other names and they were all built differently. Some were great boats, some were just so-so. That one looks like the 20' mako design. A good fish boat design, not particularly a performance hull. You will enjoy the site. It is a gathering of every conceivable type of boat nut...

Thanks for the information, Yeah it's not very fast for sure but it's a good starter boat and I can use it in both fresh and saltwater.

My first boat was a Champion bass...it was damn near as heavy as your boat and probably slower too...lead sled for sure! The speed bug bit the crap out of me and that's how I ended up here. But we all started somewhere and your starter boat is a hell of a lot nicer than mine was! I love to fish too (salt and fresh) so I think you made a fine choice for that!

If the speed bug ever does bite you...these guys on here have a fully stocked medicine cabinet full of remedies...

    Enjoy your new rig!
