Going out testing a Harley lithium battery on a 300xs
People posted it won't work, some posted it will .. so I'm testing it. First, It's a nice weight savings in the stern..
It's 790 CCA and runs a Harley with more electronics than Best Buy..

Why would you do that? If there are any power draws it will kill the battery. Not a test of a batteries ability to run an engine, just purposely trying to destroy an expensive battery.
If there aren't any power draws it'll be fine. I have lithium batteries that haven't been charged in a year or more that are still okErik Kiser

I'm OK with no charger for a year, sorry about leaving the perko on, I have no draw on mine on or off.
I wanted to know if they required constant charging or maintenance charges all the time.
What is your cca on your lithiums?, What do they weigh?, What do they cost?
My "fat" batteries are 1000cca, will sit for months, and don't get any maintenance till winter time.
Yes they are heavy like me. :-)Wriggleys gum makes me think of boating, "Double your engines, Double your fun"

I still have 4 cell Ballistic batteries that I used to use for trim batteries that are good. Bought them 4 years ago and they haven't been on a charger in over a year. Still good.
I've had great luck with Antigravity lithium batteries too. Used two 24 cell batteries tied together to crank. Even with 240 lbs of compression I couldn't kill that combination. I bet I could've cranked it 50 times if I wanted. Currently run a Braille lithium. So far so good but it's not a cheap battery. Best bang for the buck are the Antigravity batteriesErik Kiser

LI-ON batts will hold charge a LONG time, maybe decades. Gonna put "Battery Tender" out of biz. I got a couple drills that one rarely needed and will sit for a year, as good as last times used. And run them flat out juice, and charge right back up fine. This aint the old "Ni Cads"
Only thing is on your charging system (boat) must be capable of knowing what its charging so something don't "let the smoke out". I know older IL 6 Mercs, do NOT like AGM batts,. but I'm no wizard electrics. Just damn good at letting the smoke out wires.
Search info LI-ON batts net. Heavy ass flooded, etc batts? Soon relics the past.........Last edited by Robby321; 09-04-2017 at 05:23 PM.

The wife and I put around 70 miles on the boat today. A good amount of idling, some runs over 6k, but most at 3500 rpm.
Stopped at 3 bars and each times re starting was not a issue.
Overall it's positive result.
