Who's growing Bamboo?
I ordered some Moso Bamboo seeds 2 years ago and planted about 300 seeds and only about a dozen germinated and grew a few inches but then died. Only 2 are still alive and doing well in pots. One is in a 2 gallon and the other in a 5 gallon pot. And the taller stuff in my front yard is unknown stuff a buddy of mine dug up from somewhere and gave me just a small pieces of roots only.
Who else here has grown bamboo from SEED?
Sure anyone and everyone can transplant it and grow it.. BUT whos done it from SEED and what success have you had?

That stuff grows like weeds down here. Climate is a factor in it tho. They like warmer climates, especially if you're going from seed. It might be a good idea to start them inside with a grow light.

If its the same species as has become an exotic problem here....it is unlawful to allow it to grow here. It is becoming a BIG problem! I don't know anyone who has tried to grow from seed. Gary

if you put it in the ground down here and it takes, it's very hard to get rid of, much like banana trees. an Asian friend regards them as a symbol of good luck. I guess until it's time to remove it. fun out

Bamboo grows like grass because it is.
