The book calls it a manifold cover. The gasket is designed to keep air out. My guess is that if it is leaking fuel there may actually be something going on with the injectors or seals allowing fuel to puddle at the bottom of the manifold. Some manifolds have hose barbs on the bottom while others don't.

Thanks Rock good call Ill have a good look around once i get everything off. Maybe since the O Ring wasn't sealing any more a vacuum was created perhaps drawing fuel out? it was only at wot. I had the cover off saw it there gave it a wipe. Toddled around not at wot and it was fine. Then i gunned it and did some wot passes and a tinny bit was there again? The gasket is toast there was black gasket material in with the little bit of fuel on top of the cover. Melting away. LOL I send alot of air into the motor. I have cut about 30 holes in my cowl ditched the water separator beside the motor and have lines directed into the intake. Riched up fuel big time to add to the extra air im sucking in. From about 60 you can really feel the difference to top speed. Was trying to make like an induction cold air type thingy! LOL i had to deep 6 most of the fuel lines and run a more direct rout to the VST from the pulse pump because of all the extra fuel i need to compensate for the extra air.

Whip, if you hook up a pressure gage to the schrader valve on the VST you can monitor your fuel rail pressure. If it starts to bleed off as soon as the key switch ( and fuel pump) are turned off, you have a leak on the fuel rail inside the plenum. Usually its in the transfer tubes between the VST & fuel rail.
