Stock spec motor. Piston rpm and 5 or 7 peddle front?

I am thinking of building a stock motor for a local race series , stock class is fully interiored boat and stock motor. I have an almost new set of stock mercury pistons. Am I safe under 7000 for an 800 ft race?
I have both 5 and 7 peddle fronts. As I would want the thing mainly for an 800 ft drag on a 1200 lb boat with my fat butt in it would the 5 peddle be better?
I am using an old style 81 225 block.

If your gonna keep it under 8000 and a little heavier I would go with the 5 with 4 petal reeds.Jmo

And put you a 1 inch spacer between intake and reeds if it's allowed.

Stock pistons and stock clearances will be fine to 7000 rpm. As long as you keep plenty of fuel to it.

1200lbs rigged with driver is LITE!!! For a bass boat, or do you mean the listed dry hull weight is 1200?

my boat is listed as 1150, with a 15" 2.5 one 27 Cranker one lawn tractor battery for 24v up 3.5gallons of gas, with helmet and lifeline on weight is exactly 2015lbs with ZERO ballast

get some 2.0 gears and a 20p and spin the guts out of it if it weights that much. Worry more about set up and testing than 5-7 peddle.

Also if memory serves me correctly the older vintage 225's were 7 peddle factory and in a stock class would prolly need to stay that way??

are the rules posted online anywhere?

If ya take the "ring the guts out of it" method which is my kinda thinking, go 7. If ya take the conservative 7000 route go 5. Easier to win race out the hole instead of trying to run them down and pass em in 800ft. The 5 will make more low end to mid range, 7 mid to upper rpm power.

Pretty sure he's talkin 'bout the OPBRA series.......it's a bit of a hike for ya seeing as its in central Ontario. Be about a 26 hour drive for you.....with your boot in it.
    love to have ya thou!

Like you said, spin it to the moon.....in 800' you'll be hard pressed to hurt it.
I run a chrome bore 2.4 200 in the same class. Motor is mid 80's, tons of hours on it, never been apart and has turned big R's it's entire life.....still has oil injection to!

With 2.0 gears and a 22p you don't need any low end LOL

will leap out of the hole and they will be chasing you down

Dang it! I done it again! I'm not too good at being clear on my thoughts. Low gears small prop, go 7 petal to rip out hole and turn good rpm- the way 5.0 recommends and I agree. If ya don't like idea of higher rpm and run taller prop/gears that won't see much more than 7000 rpm go 5 to give more low end to help out hole. Sorry for my dumb confusion self! lol!

I wish I had more videos of my boat but i don't unfortunately.

Im on the outside lane, inside lane is a 2002/300x they got my right at the bouy but you can see how hard a heavy boat leaves with that set up combo.

Stock 225 promax with bumped rev limiter and 34cc heads, 14" setback 1.5" above pad 15* neg tuck
2.0 gears and a 22 e.t. Boat weighed 2018 on the scale when we came out iirc
