I believe Rayzor here on the board had two Gen 2 200XS's on his boat. He'll probably see this and have some insights. There are very few ROS Gen 2's in the USA, more in Europe. There is actually a used Gen 2 for sale stateside. Are you thinking of buying that one?

Razors old boat is for sale again with the 4th owner. Not sure if it's the combo or the motors but it's always on the market. Merc list them at 434 lbs, so for another 31 lbs the 100 more HP of a 300x sounds nice.

With Mercury, who knows what the real weight is. I think that Rayzor may have put one of his Gen 2 2.5 200XS motors on a digital scale for a real weight. Here are a couple of tags from older 200XS Gen 1 motors. Hey Merc, is this the new math? If the new Gen 2's had a one year warranty the weight might fly.

I think you have to race to order a new 200 ros or at least you used to have too.

I want one for my bullet if i ever repower it.

I bought a new in crate 200xs ss sm 1.87 (15" mid with SportMaster =ros) gen I. Fantastic engine! It now has 130 hours on it and it is just to turn the key and go. The 200xs has lots of torque and zips fuel at the rate of 5 gallons per hour at 60mph.

Service it, give it good fuel and oil, keep battery full and you'll have a great engine for recreational use.

I know that a 300 XS was put on a fish scale and it weighed in at 495lbs

How the heck did he get his hands on a Gen 2 200XS? 700 hours is amazing.

    200xs: 434lbs/197kg
    300xs: 505lbs/229kg
    (Source: Mercury Racing)

About the 700hrs, since the engine does not rev more than 7,000rpm it does not wear like the 2.5efi.
The 300xs revs to 6,100rpm, is much bigger and heavier and takes quite a bit more fuel but comes with a warranty.

(Source: Mercury Racing) ......... I'd rather see someone hang a 200XS ROS from a fish hook to see what the real weight is with fluids. I stopped trusting Mother Merc's weight tags when they stopped giving us a warranty! Probably a bit less than 434 although the can itself for a ROS is beefy.

I am not sure (go faster all the time) but somewhere just over 4,000rpm with a Mazco RE3 30p. The information is from the SmartCraft (20 liters/hour @55kts)...
