It can be done and their still are 100% home made products. I look for the USA or Canada label but don't see too often. You know the rest, the knock offs killed the originals except in quality. The toasters, TVs , bikes, tools, etc. Company brand names bought out and production moved offshore with consumers buying on loyalty only to find generic at best products owned by who knows. Ever try to find the domestic content percentage in a new car ,truck or outboard?

If you're talking OEM parts suppliers qc dictates. Point is so much of it is offshore because the bottom line is king.

They don't buy our stuff, why buy the stuff they sell? It's called fair trade. Until Trump came along it was an unthinkable concept since we had a ninny in control of everything. Now that we have someone with a brain running the show, it will be a much more level playing field.

Totally,why would they. All they need from us is the natural resources to produce the goods. Our exports to the east have ballooned. Oil, gas, timber that whole play as well is total positive for them. It's systematic, capitalism at work. The suppliers on this end get taken over or bought out , that's the goal. I can't find many end consumer goods in the department store or hardware store that are local , no choices, monopoly. Specialty products yes some local but harder to find as we go forward. Lots of the big stuff still assembled here, refrigerators, ACs, not sure about all the internals, when you need a new one and all their is isn't 100% too bad.

But NO, ya went for the cheaper "use and toss" "Bic" Using a Zippo for decades with a cheap few pennies in fluid a no brainer. But ya pay a buck for a soon used up Bic, and toss and buy more? Think ya got a deal? Nope. Like Harbor Freight. By quality once and good for life. Go lazy and cheap? Ya pay more the long run. And I don't know yer age, but I'm pushing 67 and seen it all. Brother 10 years older, heard and saw the first muscle cars, the "Do Wop" days, then the beginning real "muscle cars, Rock and roll", and first on the moon landing while I was in Nam, as Woodstock and way more.
We are VERY SELF SUFFICIENT...as many here USA that can produce the best made if a chance. And do it right. Responsible too. Theirs 3 branches Gov.."Executive, Legislature, and Judicial" and Trump has all three now.

No argument that it could over time do it but if tomorrow the supply was shut off, no way no how. Example, a lady drives into the GM dealer. Her three year old Buick needs a warranty part. Three month lead time because of fluctuating Chinese supply. Trade wars can get ugly, domestic supply chain for all the 95% of the products on the shelf does not exist domestically.

If we no longer had bic's we would dig out our old zippo's. And they would still work like new cause they were made to last.

I proudly voted for Trump not because he was a republican but because he wants to take our country back, which he is. I've been hoping for someone to take our country back for 20 years. I don't care if your a lefty, a righty, a democrat a republican or even an independent. Oh ya or one of those liberal idiots. If your willing to stand up for America, protect it, stop illegals, stop the towel head invasion, stop the monkey people from turning this country into the planet of the apes. Then you won my vote. Other countries have been doing that for hundreds of years. I feel no shame in wanting my country to be for my people. Nobody shames other countries for trying to keep their country how its been for hundreds and hundreds of years. Thinking of European countries there. USA is too young for that thought. See, my thought process is altered by common sense and observations. I do not or will not ever jump on a band wagon. I think for myself, If I know it works, I do it. I might bring it up so i can get other opinions and if there is something i missed then i listen and if i find it true then i squeeze it into my thought process.

FWIW, lighter example not so good - Bic makes their lighters in the US in my town. Shick razors are also manufactured here..
