Bargaining tactic, or many things may become more costly. GM just moved 600 Canadian jobs to Mehico.

Just a tax on the money sent via wire transfer from the US back to mexico from the Mexican citizens living here will pay for the wall. Don't get hung up on the wall and who will pay for it. Just sending back the freeloading illegals that leach off our welfare and food stamp programs would pay for it. The wall is needed for our national security. Plain and simple.

Rodger that, they said on the radio today that the drug kingpin "El Chappo" has something like 18 Billion in assets and is about to be prosecuted here, that alone will pay for the wall. fun out

Do you have a different understanding ?
You have it correct. If you don't want to pay for the wall....Don't buy the goods! Once the consumer sees the tax ...sales down and the makers of the product put pressure on the Mexican govt. If your an American importer thats the price for dealin with the devil! Way better than funds being used from the US Treasury. I would say that Trump understands this VERY well. Frank He (and others) are trying to push Trump. They have a loosing battle as the feds have control over imigration laws and it is a felony to disobey. The problem is that Obimbo and his people were in favor of santurary cities and did not inforce the existing laws. Can't wait to see the S-cities get defunded by the feds!!!! Money talks as Miami has proved. Gary

You say way better than funds being used from the US Treasury, but my understanding is that is exactly what will be used to fund the construction. Whether the US government collects enough in a 20% border fee (from US companies) to refill the piggy bank or not. I hope they do, but it still means it will be built with US taxpayer's money under this proposal. I'm hoping we hear some of the other options where the govt of Mexico is actually paying or reimbursing us.

They are all lying hypocrites The media. I was watching Paul Mitchell the hair shampoo guy who is partners with Patron. Well seems nobody wants to bring up the fact that Mexitaco is charging us a 17% tariff tax on our products going south of the border. But when Prez Trump tries doing the same thing they are doing....God forbid this self richious racist pig that only cares about himself according to the fake press

    YOU GO TRUMP

to a fault....not sure how big a fault, but what of the fact that half of Mexican imports come from the USA. What WE sell to them?

If you look at what Mexico exports to us, the USA can source what we get from them elsewhere....mostly ourselves if we gear up for it. Which may take some doing.
Granted a lot of those exports from the USA to Mexico are components or materials they use to build stuff and sell back to us.

If we could get it together and build those assembly plants here, bypassing Mexico would keep the original supplier business selling here in the USA instead of to Mexico, and with no export tariff.

    http://atlas.media.mit.edu/en/visual...show/all/2014/

Although this web page hasn't been updated in a couple years it could be close to accurate for today...if not worse.

So could this mean the ball bounces back on us? At least partially, maybe temporarily.
Not sure, but it seems to me if Mexico's economy suffers from the loss of sales from tariffs or economy collapse, wouldn't the USA companies loose sales as well?

" Global Economy " is a great catch phrase for what is about to happen.

Trump is no idiot for sure, he is wanting to better our economy FIRST, and creating jobs is how that's done. I don't think it will be a cake walk for us, at least in the beginning it may be hard.

It's kind of like President Trump inherited a sinking boat, and has to patch and plug the holes and turn on the bilge pump to keep the boat afloat. Then he can turn it's direction back to port USA.

    James H.

Exactly. How it works and the reason behind it. Its simple as if a company moves Mex/overseas for CHEAP labor AND sells same price as here before (think Mex made Spark plugs. Made cheaper there, still same price as here right)? They get the profit, we still pay the same. Charge 20% import fee (this will be figured out as we know none the real details) will defeat the reason went Mex or overseas anyway. Be better off to move back here (real factory jobs created) or stay in the first place and with lower Corp tax, less restrictions that Trump is defeating daily with the "pen" from bozos pen its a win win.

This country HAS to get jobs (real, like manufacturing) created, more Tech schools which will be created, less "need a degree" for a job that creates zip improvement life style any. Do we really need more people telling us the damn weather, paper pushers, etc? NO. Insane cost for college anyway. Get the MANY unemployed back to work, off the gov dole as the WAY too many slugs using welfare for a living. Easy that too as drug test or no dough. And not a check in the mail but community service proved done first.

Never happen? Kick back and watch. Trump in office only 8 DAYS, and look what done. Now if only the demrats would stop "getting in the way" and work with us, NOT against us. Be a interesting Mid Terms election as some the other congress slugs should get the boot too. We did it with Trump against the many odds, and see what happened?

The adults are in charge now, and some of the best and brightest businessmen in charge, no "tokens" like with bozo, some the dumbest that would screw up running a hot dog stand.

Its like a big Chess Game. You have to think way ahead or suffer the consequences. Every action has a opposite and equal reaction. If thought through? You (we) will win. No more playing checkers and make a dumb move and that's just about anything bozo and rest did. Just think "Bozo Care"............:we has to pass it to see whats in it"..........

What about the Chinese imports? HUGE, so if it happens with these imports one thing is certain North America does not have the capacity to self supply. This will take years if even possible. So much of Corp profit are built into offshore supply. Margins will not be excepted by share holders unless something happens with efficiency , one way or another. What still is produced here is done so with mostly foreign produced components and market difference is subsidising the ability to produce that end product here. It's a huge undertaking to be able to make that work.

Remember that they rely on us as much as we do them. They will have to take less profit and or we the consumer will have to pay a portion of the increase. If the product doesn't sell then then the manufacture has to cut its price or get out of the game "competition in the marketplace". Trump is no dummy and it will help even out the playing field for a lot of American companies to get back in the game and compete. There have been thousands of manufactures that went out of business because of the Chinese "copy, steal, and sell" methods, it might not happen over night but he his making things happen faster then anyone else in history. Keep it up Donald.

    Joe
