If you could carry speed through the corners then a 280 would be sweet. If not then the 300 torque would be the ticket.

Dale has the right answer on the power. Do exactly like the S-class boats are doing so that you guys can approach SBI, P1 or OPA with something that they have already accepted and or are familiar with. You can also get replacement parts at reasonable prices. Quinton will have his rigged this weekend and is planning to give it a shake down run on Saturday. He is a great guy and you two should combine your efforts to expand the class (I would be very interested in getting involved if P1 would add this class to their program-they really need another show and do a nice job with race sites and promotions here in FL.). I think rounding up a ten boat field is realistic.

Before his passing , Rick George was pretty serious about dealing with those issues .
Above my pay grade , but I think Gordon was doing a pair of mild
big inch powerheads to go on these mids he had me do . Kev style 1.62 Sporties , all to go on one of the RGR / DW 28's . I would have loved to see all that in one pile .

The OMC tiller pin was actually larger diameter than the Offshore Merc . I remember having to make a bushing for the tiller arm . Double wall on the swivel pin makes up for it's puny
diameter ...

Mr C, I would love to see that artistry come to life, but I don't think the Mercenrude combo would pass muster with the sanctioning bodies of racing.
This is a race team in EU running a 26 ft hull offshore and their trials/tribulations with the clamps:
I think I showed this to you before which was their solution. I don't know if the US rules would allow this.
No more hijacking of thread....300xs or X seems to be the ticket Pachanga.I CAN ALWAYS MAKE ANOTHER DOLLAR, BUT I CANNOT MAKE ANOTHER DAY

OPA and the SBI would openly welcome the C3/225 spec class. The rules are already in place, we would just run the U.I.M. rule book. But as of now I'm the only one in America with a C3/225 race boat. I know of a couple C3/200 boats but at this time they don't seem interested in racing them.
But spec' racing balls out with 300hp Merc's would be a little much. The speeds would be a little un-safe in these boats. The 225hp rules seem just right.

Pachanga, you were running in OPA Class 4 which was speed capped at 85 mph right? Would you stay in that class if running a 300? Is there a speed cap on the C3/225 class?
Baja, clamp set ups look great. Question is, can you run the mix and match manufacturer outboard legally in a class?I CAN ALWAYS MAKE ANOTHER DOLLAR, BUT I CANNOT MAKE ANOTHER DAY

Yes , I see their point . Throw him in with twin 700's and worry about what clamp bracket he's runnin ....Trying to accelerate with twin engine 700 hp (or even 500hp) boats is pretty difficult, so best I
just throw a big motor on and put the other in the garage as a spare.

I would stay in class 4 at 85mph, my main reason for bigger is not as much top speed as torque / acceleration. I need MORE ACCELERATION to run with the bigger powered twin engine boats.
..
The C3/225 class racing in the Middle East Region is a spec class, so no speed limit.
