I guess would like to get a little rush once in awhile. Plus with any extra passengers, it will carry the load better with the second engine. Besides it's winter up here in the Great White North and I need my boat fix. LOL!

Gary, I really love fast boats! I have a 28 Skater that exceeds 115 MPH full of people and fuel. My lake is 40 miles long and I get bored sometimes and wish I had more "water real estate" to use. I was a LOTO for the Shootout this summer and drove 240 miles in three hours with my wife. It was a blast - lots of cool stuff to see and do!. Next stop Florida Keys! P.S. I totally understand the "boat fix" thing.

YEP, the 22 is a boring boat! Why not just get some mods done to the 300x? I'm planning on doing some to my 300xs next year such as DBR.

With 3 300XSs on the back of my old Cougar, how much more speed do you need. LOL! Keep me posted on your mods.
    Thanks

The real reason for doing it is I wanted a set of 30 year old twins last year for my 60th birthday but my wife vetoed that, so this is the only way I am going to get twins that I see. Plus the sound twin Xs should be sweet.

    Thanks
    Gary

I Am Looking Opinions On Putting 2 300X Motors On My Cougar 22MTR!!

Over the years there have been quite a few 21 Liberators, Eliminators and Cougars on here and on other websites that have twin 2.5s on the back. I had a 21MTR before the two 22s and there is a considerable difference between the two hulls. I would think that those boats would handle worse than what I am proposing to do with my 22. The Liberator has a little taller deck but the bottom is basically the same as the other two. As with any high performance boats there are always trade-offs in speed or handling. It's snowing here today, let's keep this thread going.
    Thanks
    Gary

You asked for advise and it is clear you are going to do what you want to do regardless. The peanut gallery tells you go ahead. More is better right? The people who have been there, done that advise against it. Including a boat builder. Nothing left to discuss. Pull the trigger and let us know how it turns out. Be safe.

I Am Looking Opinions On Putting 2 300X Motors On My Cougar 22MTR!!

I have been corresponding with a member on here that sold a 23MTR with twin 300Xs on it a number of years ago. He gave me the same basic information that you have also mentioned-slow to get on plane, leaning outward in the turns and low speed proposing. I sent an e-mail to the owner of the 22MTR with the twin 300Xs to get his opinion of the ride and handling characteristics and let you know what he says.
    Thanks
    Gary

What about a 400r? Selling a couple x motors would
go a long way in that power upgrade.

A pair of 225 promax/x would likely be best though

I plan to do that next summer if I still have the boat, although with all that weight in the back I will need switch props because the boat won't get on plane with my RE4 30.
    Thanks
