    Agreed.

I've done both a couple times and a cut down OEM mid is much lighter than a Taylor 16".
    And I think more attractive.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

    Skeleton mid looks awesome.

    Loop,

Can you give the weights of stock vs your skeleton and more pictures when your finished with it?

Can you give information on the fiber cowling?

    Thanks

Well im not saying freddy set up aint cool and all BUT to me it looks like the whole motor[powerhead pan hood lower unit] is only supported by that one piece of vertical tubing? might work for speed runs in calm water but turning sharp and or in rough waters boy if that weak spot failed and the whole motor fell off someones going to get real hurt or worse. jmho

Another note is that the front on the powerhead skeleton that comes to a point at 4 spots that's welded to the vertical tube is what im talking about be very prone to cracking as the leverage of the rest of the motor would be very hard on those 4 points , anyone agree?

Ken I see the point you are making and isn't that tube the swivel point for steering? Very nice workmanship and owning one of your shortened v4 mids I can say your work is flawless also! Gary

I believe Freddie's mid is for a drag hydro. I'm sure there will be more critical bracing.

im sure its a mock up but its a untested rig??? Freddie will have to chime in.It still needs a top v-4 adapter plate to accept the adapter plate and water tube and tuner, and a adapter plate to mount the lower unit to it and it looks like it does not swivel at the vertical tube ???. By the way thanks gary. ken

This is one I did for JPEROG about two years ago .
Chris supplied the circular pattern reeds for the power head .
It is a 3 cyl , 60 or 90 , dependin on which way you put the decal on ...
It was pretty labor intensive . I had to do a set back because @ 15" the lower ran into the trim cyl .
With the swivel shortened to 15" the side rubbing blocks didnt line up , so it needed to do ears and tabs .
The mounts were shot , so we made new ones .
The nose cone was too big for the little housing , so it took a little fitting to make it work .
In my book , the can should be welded inside and out , this one was no exception .
I think some time last year he bought a 115 HP Opti powerhead and slipped it on this mid .. his little Whaler handles good and hauls azz ...
