You may have noticed in the Youtube comments this is an all silver boat. The pictures under the harsh fluorescent lights along with the camera's color balance makes it look white, it isn't.

Here's a sample of the Silver gelcoat on top of a white surface.

I thought it was white too...wouldn't have known unless you said so. That should be sharp when completed.

I have to give my wife credit for that. I was going to do a plain white boat until she stepped in and suggested doing the gelcoat in a shade of gray or silver since that's the base we would apply for the graphics. Everyone agreed Silver has a better "pop" than gray so that's what we went with.

Besides, everyone has a white boat, we wanted something just a little different

So is it gray or silver? Metallics usually won't lay down correctly in Gelcoat

It's Silver, color code AH483, direct from the gel manufacturers color card. There's no metallic in it.

If it's silver, it has to have metallic in it. That's what makes it silver. It may be very small though. Silver metalflake is different

I just looked it up. It's not metallic. It's a light gray but they call it silver.

Joe Partyka's Talon was on a big run today and once again plagued by propeller failure, not a Mercury prop. The boat has 110 in it easily. It was 100% full of fuel. A rigging change is what made a big difference. The standard Talon 22 SS run 105, this one was a special build for Joe. This is a 2013 stock 300xs on it to boot.

Call it grey or call it silver. It is very sharp looking.

I'm pretty sure the manufacturer uses Silver vs. Light Gray to differentiate their stock colors from their quick mix colors. On the color chips it's almost impossible to tell them apart but being a stock color the chances of variances between batches is reduced. Todd asked his rep which one he would recommend and he said, "Silver, it seems to have a bit more pop than the light gray", that was good enough for me. Manufacturers take a lot of liberties when they name their colors. For example, their dark gray is called Tin Man, LOL.

Our other thought is it will make a great base for graphics. I don't intend to invest a lot in bling, it's not our style, so the savings in not having to prep and shoot the entire deck and half the hull to lay down some simple graphics means I have more money to spend on making the boat fast and reliable.

Just starting to rig a new Talon 22 SS with the new 400R. This boat will have a selector switch so you can use the hand throttle or foot throttle.
