Dont think so as i never have any problems freezing or with Pics and clips. I had a problem like your describing a few years ago. it was my puter. The sites so large with so much data transfer ya need a more powerful computer these days to do stuff on alot of sites now a days i find? My buddy built me the one im on now for 200 bucks and its super fast any were now. Greg is pretty wise when it comes to knowing how to build a web site like this one. The experience is much better with super high speed and faster boat I mean computers thats all i know. Im old!! lol

Bro, you don't get anything more powerful than this rig!... A lot of people have left this site for the very reason. We do boats on other sites. However, I still have people here I know.
My Computer runs an i7-4790K Devil's Canyon CPU, 32GB of G. SKILL RAM, 256GB Samsung SSD and a Seagate Barracuda 1TB storage drive, Corsair RM750i PSU, and a MSI GTX960 4GB graphics card, and I don't have enough computer???...Yeah, OK. I build PC's, repair them, and build servers and network systems. BSME, MME, and MBA retired with 50 yrs.+ experience. No, bud, it's server load issues and proxy issues on the other end. All ready did the diagnostics.

And ISP quality?...here ya go- latency's a bit high, usually around 9 ms, but it's 5:08PM here now and traffics high on the pipe at this time.

Oh, one thing Greg has no control over, and that is how many people are on the site at a given time. There's a calculation for determining probability and planning network server capacity around it. It can get expensive at a point. Look at Fcebook, and their 3rd party gaming apps...those entities literally have server FARMS!

Anyway, it is what it is... and I have nothing against Greg, or anyone for that matter...

    You're old???...bet I've got kids your age!

    Anyway, peace/out.

What I don't understand is that I have a 8yr old Compaq laptop with Vista and I do NOT have any problems on here. I also have a tablet that I use during the day for my business that I haven't had any problems on this site either. Must be the lack of population density up here! LOL Gary

Not sure how a thread about fast vipers devolved into someone who has never been a supporting member whining about a site he's been using for free... but it has.

Guys wonder why site owners get sick of dealing with this bull**** and sell out to IB. Here's reason #463.

Like I said, some do, some say they don't. I have approx. 8 friends who've left here due to technical difficulties. Look, as far as I am concerned, this topic is closed. It is what it is. 'Nuff said!

    Thank you, and best regards-

Again, it is what it is. So you complain how we got off track, but you decide to throw another log on the fire... Oh, I see. At reason #463, it's nice to know that you have the time to keep track of such critical details.

So, if you're sincere, let's get back to the boats... my comment was not directed at you, but an explanation to my Facebook friend Dave.

    Thank you, and kind regards-

LOL, I wouldn't be me if I didn't throw another log on the fire.

I'm just saying there may be issues but implying Greg is blowing stacks on boats is a low blow. Hell everyone knows he wouldn't take it out even if he did.

You need to have supporting member or vendor under your screen name before you can talk like that...Greg isn't getting rich from this deal because very few offer to donate towards the cause-

I never have issues and spend too much time here. Not sure why the other guy would but, if you have had enough problems then you should know to copy your long post before hitting reply just in case. I always do that on a long reply just in case.

Wow Tim. If I found a site on the internet to annoy me that much I think I wouldn't waste another minute of my life on it. I'm sure there are plenty of other websites that will meet your expectations. With an average of 6 posts per year we'd really hate to lose your participation, but somehow we'll get through it.

    Hi Tim,

I was really enjoying this thread - and your replies along with it, until you threw this completely misinformed statement in.
Too much server load? Cheap ass, flimsy servers? That could not be farther from the truth.

Back in May/June, I spent a tremendous amount of money having new dedicated servers built for this site, which are running dual Intel Xeon E5-2650 processors with 20 cores at 2.3 GHz. We are on a RAID system using full SSD (Solid State Drives) and triple T3 data lines. Our old server was approaching its maximum performance potential, and this is why I made the decision to have a completely new server built - not just an upgrade.

All of that is dedicated to this site only. Our server is dedicated to Scream And Fly and does not share a load with any other site. If that qualifies for "Cheap ass, flimsy servers" I would like to see what you consider as being good.

Yeah, and I wish I had ad money "pouring into my personal boat program" - with a boat that has not been used since 2004. Is that the "typical performance boater"?

As for our banner ads, the Scream And Fly Supporting Vendor ad rates have not changed since we instituted them back in 2002. Not ever. I do all I can to help Supporting Vendors support their businesses, and they in turn help our members here, many times with discounts.

With regard to your site issue, you never contacted me about any problems. Since we've been on the new server, I have not experienced any server crashes. As a matter of fact, our uptime is 100% since going online in June. Your issue was more likely caused by your own computer. It does not matter how fast your particular machine is. For somebody that claims to build computers, your estimation of our server performance could not be farther from the truth.

Much of my time and expense is now devoted to working on what will be the new version of the Scream And Fly site. You should understand that developing a site on this scale takes a lot of time and work. And as is the case with this situation, I am enormously grateful to our Team Members and Supporting Vendors.

Finally, there is an auto-save function that is automatic. If you should ever have another issue while submitting a post (internet browser locks up, computer locks up, accidentally closing the window, etc.), just go back and make a new post, and just press the "Restore Auto-Saved Content" button on the bottom-left side of the text field and that will recover what you typed. If you have any other issues by all means feel free to contact me anytime.

Thank you everybody for your support on this thread, that really means a lot to me and I appreciate it!

Maybe we can get back on-topic again.

    Greg
