My golden has seizures. They are pretty well controlled by pheno. I find when he has a break thru seizure that I press in on his eyes and this is said to relieve pressure on the brain and shorten the seizure. It really has worked the times I have had to do it. Give it a try, nothing to loose and yes.........dogs rule.

Dobby had a seizure this morning , little while ago . That's why I'm posting this early in the morning . I did the eye pressure press and he stopped seizing in about 15 - 20 seconds . He's walking it off now , but has better balance and seemingly less muscle strain . Even saw his little nub (tail is docked) wagging after he stood up . Crushed two valium (diazepam) in butter and gave him to break the cycle .

Vnemous , Thank You for passing that information on . His episode time was probably reduced by half . That is great when the seconds seem like minutes ... Thank You .

I'm suppose to be up in an hour for work , guess I'll make a pot of coffee .

That is awesome to hear. Glad it helped. My wife thought I was crazy but she did it a while ago when I wasnt home and was surprised it worked. We recently found out that Tobys thyroid levels were zero so he has been on thyroid meds and is now a much more active dog and has lost 5 lbs. So this may have been the cause of his seizures. Now do we ween him off the pheno? I guess its a decision we have to make but I sure would like to or at least get him down to a smaller dose.

Dobby is on Phenobarbatol for seizures , Soloxine for thyroid and Diazapam to break the cycles when he seizes . When I was posting the first post I talked about a bad two day spell , he was having an episode every 90 minutes like clock work .

It's best to reduce the pheno if possible because it will eventually cause organ failure .

Like so many of medicines for people if the condition doesn't kill you the medicine might ....

Side note : while doing research I came across something interesting . There was a claim that a German physcian found a cure for cancer in 1938 . Called : CDS water . which can be made at home for a cost of 60 cents per 64 fluid ounces . Dosage of 1/2 ounce per hour . Chlorine Dioxide Gas infused into Distilled Water . Prepared solutions can be bought for $20 per 4 ounce bottle . I haven't made any yet , need to dig out my old chemistry stuff .

Another Side note : Found info that claims CDS water is harmful , back to the drawing board .....
