Tux...thanks buddy! I've always been an optimist. Would of off'd myself a long time ago if I wasn't. If I want to do something...I just figure out how to do it...might not be the way you do it...may take for time and money...but I still do it. Done lots of high performance sports. Seen the world..thanks to Team Canada.
I bike with a handcycle, scuba dive, Bass, Salmon fish, wife, 9 year old daughter. Life is good! All I want is a dam motor for my AE-21....so I can strap that rocket on my a s s and try to Scream n Fly ....one day!!
Not much to ask for ...is it?

If you had one, I am pretty sure you could get a brand new drop on and add your electronics for around 6500.
Hard choice I have one with 15 hours after rebuild but I love the boat and will probably buy a new drop on minus the electronics etc for 6500 if I can get it.
On a 300x, it is not buy once it is buy twice. I am starting to think what these guys are saying and they damn well know what they are talking about, buy that one and refresh it for a lot cheaper than buying a drop on and switching all the stuff on it off until You have to. Or run it and spend 6500 for a new one and switch out your electronics and pay 6500 to have a new one.

300x=FNLA there is no new drop on to buy. Why do you think everyone is trying to build 225-250 efi's to a wanna be 300x? Mines an 01 and I wouldnt sell it for less than $10,000. Is that a lot? Hmmm whats a original Chrysler Hemi worth now a day? The way I look at it. If I ever sold my boat without the X I would put it on my engine stand and push it in the corner. Sooner or later I would get my price

Thanks guys...you all have been very helpful.
Tux...I'm the same person I was before I was in the chair...honestly. Do alot of public/motivational speaking to others...give back to the community.
Vnemous...don't get me wrong...I love the couch too!
So any final verdict on the 300x? Take it or leave it?

Well, I just bought one of the last 5 powerheads Mercury has new in the US and they say they will be discontinued. I would recommend you freshen that one up before running it for sure.

Well I just bought one of the last 5 now 4 300x powerheads new from Mercury. He should change it up or buy the one he can get and refresh it. Pretty sad how the two stroke motors are getting phased out, especially the 300x. I hear you can get 2.5 blocks a lot easier and I will be doing compression and leakdown tests on my 260's every month, only take my son to turn the key. Unless I blow teh block, parts are a lot more readily available than the 300x. I have the tools, so next weekend, I will be teaching my son how to do compression and leakdown tests on my 260's and my 15 hour 300x and thank god I had the credit to buy one of the last 5 new from mercury 300x drop on powerheads. I really like the Intimidator and I want to keep it going well into retirement along with the Shadow. If I get crazy and get a Velocity or a Progression, I will swap my power to it.
