Hard to write this as it is hard to see the keyboard. Old Mugsy passed today in my arms at about 2 PM. It wasn't peaceful as I had wished but it was quick. He had a good day and was actually looking better. There was just something going on internally that wasn't going to get well. The vet said tests would maybe tell us something but all we would know was what was going to get him in the end. Too old to do much else. We went for a ride in the truck, he loved riding, and we took a short walk to some of his favorite places on the property. His last act of kindness was to spare me the grief of making a decision on putting him down. I have never been around a sweeter soul. I do appreciate the thoughts of those who read this and especially those who responded. I don't usually post personal stuff but I have read and responded to many similar about losing a pet. They always made me think about the good times I have had with past pets. Hope this does the same for others.

Sorry for your loss, but find peace in the fact he left in his own house, in your arms without that always 2nd guessing yourself, trip to the vet.

Sorry for your loss. It is hard losing a pet. I had to make the decision to put our boxer down over a year ago and even though it was what had to be done I still struggle with the fact I had to chose to end her life. They are part of the family.

Sad to hear but ya damn sure "done yer best". And to go "peacefully" with out that dreaded needle? Feel yer pain as been there, and done that. Its tough, but "ya well meet again at that "Rainbow Bridge".

Dave, sorry to read this but really glad for him to see he found a person like you! You can be sure he will be waiting on the other end of that Rainbow Bridge.

I was told yesterday that their lives are short and they leave us to spare them the pain of being without their master. Rest easy big boy. Your old bones were tired but your heart could fill a house. I know. It did.

I am so sorry . I have gone through this myself and I know how difficult it is to see your little buddy in a situation like this, where you want so badly to make better for him. I hope for the very best...

    Sincerely,
    Greg
