My little buddy

Having a tough go of it with my English bulldog. 12 years old and facing uphill battle with heart problems and fluid build up around his organs. He is a fighter but his old body is worn down to the point he can't last much longer. Hasn't eaten in a couple of days but still raises his head up to greet you when you come into his room. Hard decisions when you have rescued a dog and given him 10 years of the best you could give. if you think about it say a little prayer for Mugsy tonight.

Dave, it is never easy buddy! Sounds like he has had a great and loved life.
To me they are a family member.

The power of prayer is under estimated by many. Just keep them coming. Sat up with him last night with medicine dropper and Ensure and Pedialyte pumping in needed nourishment. He can't drink water without choking and convulsing but the medicine dropper and products mentioned stay down. He had a little twinkle in his eye this morning. Working hard with him. Thanks for the thoughts. Yesterday morning at this time I was giving him full CPR to bring him back. Selfish on my part I guess but will do anything to give him a chance. He had the abdominal swelling and after a visit to the vet had been taking strong diuretics to try and pull off the fluid. All it did was drag fluid out of his good tissue and has him so weak he can't function. He has many problems but me not doing what I can will not be one of them.

Dave, not hard to tell he hit lotto finding a person like you!
I know it is very hard but after reading above post I really think it is time, they have pride and certainly sounds like the quality of life is no longer there! Hate to think he may be suffering at this point.

Tux you are correct. He is resting and breathing easy. Consultation with vet in the morning. Hated to take him to emergency clinic as he loves going to our regular vets office. I am as prepared as I can be to let him go. Bad thing is I have an old Boxer we rescued starting to need help getting around too. It comes in bushel baskets.
