Not much on posting, just a good luck and Happy Anniversary. Will Ohio be the the first state with a OMC powered snow blower?

Always planned on building a stained/varnished plywood (read, light) deck for a Lawn Boy (OMC) and putting a chamber on it.
Had a racing budy that gew castor beans in his yard and ground them up and ran it in his Lawn Boy (w/no muffler or governor) so he could smell it while he cut the grass
Rob, plan on itY'all live in Gods country and I miss it.

So two yr's after it's start
W/the move from Fla to Ohio, jobs, etc, this project got pushed back a bit.
Sold the Stratos and the motor is now hanging on a very rare 21' Checkmate Starliner. Not running yet but very close.
Doing a complete re-rig/re-power on the boat and has taken a while. Converted to hydraulic steering, a 10" hydraulic plate etc, etc.
These boats are heavy and love set back. Currently at 18".
Here's some pix's.
Fist one is "before". With the orig, 90 lbs of compression 225 it went 57 when I bought it and 64 when I sold that motor.
At 59/60 you could feel the hull start to lift and free up and become fun. W/this motor it should be fun.
As a side bar, I sold Checkmates and OMC's in 89/90 and we had a Starliner demo w/an XP 300 w/power steering on it.
The thing was an absolute blast to drive and I always thought that was as good as you could do w/an open bow.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I love the old underdog V hulls. Checkmate was always a favorite as was BAJA, funny thing back in the day those boats were made right across the street from one another.

Thanx guys!
Slowest performance boat I've owned but the most fun.
We ran it several times last yr (including between the Lake Erie islands), and it was always full o family/friends.
Dave, when I was a kid growing up on Lake Erie w/the folks, we passed both factories every weekend. (still do) At that time, Baja was still racing in OPC and their "factory" drivers (the Downards) lived a block from the Checkmate factories. So normally some cool race boats/motors in the their driveway.
Powerabout, not sure of the throttle bodies origination, but I'm thinking they were 1.9XX" something?? In my notes somewhere. Big bores are 1 5/8".
Mad's are 2".
Barry, that's my thinking after testing this set back.
Hope all is well down your way.

Couple moh.
The last 2 was a little surprise from last night!
Under the bow cushions. Good thing I opened it up when I did. I counted NINE of them and all alive! I think I got mom in a trap the night before.
Had the boat full of moth balls (although gone from there??) and they still got to it. Mulched 2 vests.Last edited by Instigator; 10-01-2015 at 06:56 AM.

More headway. Finally.
Finally got some free time to dedicate to this project.
Rigging is 99% complete.
Also solved my starter issues. Turns out the brush holder in the starter was worn and allowing the brushes to cock at and angle and was wearing the armature and drawing huge amperage. Replaced armature, brush holder and custom made 2 gauge battery/starter cables and it now cranks as it should.
The motor now starts and runs
Tried three different cables on my Land and Sea dual action foot throttle and failed. Now using it as foot throttle only.
Final, main project is reinforcing the motor board. I have the design done and ordering parts today.
Thought I'd be breaking in the motor and maybe testing this weekend until we got 4" of snow yesterday and it went from 50* to a long term forecast of low 20's all week long.
Oh well....., headway is headwayI'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I'm bringing jugs of salt water back from Fla every time I visit!
Actually....., was going to run it on the hose today but no water in the shop so have to pull it up the hill to the house.
Then all that water runs down the driveway towards the shop and......, freezes
That hills already scary enough just being wet.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
