. Hi John never had the good fortune to race in the US ' it was the Paris 6hr and the Windermere 3 hr race I drove a OMC V4 in both races the top speed of my outfit would have been around 85 to 90 mph I would guess the Rotaries were running around 105 mph to 110 mph.i have mentioned this before but I watched from the pits on one occasion when they set off with a full fuel load and they just just had instant lift off now it needs a lot of torque to do that and I think it was not the out and out top speed but the ability to accelerate to top speed and carry fuel loads well?. This is only my own observation John from old memories?

is the 300 just for production boats? the Teague's are running a GN, I would think it was built as a race boat. thanks for the input, fun out

As i understand it there are some limits on the boats. The idea is to create a fun run not a ruthless all out race (easier said than done) .For instance outboard prop shaft height must be well below the boat's bottom...No surfacing. I don't think twin outboards are allowed either lest a 24 Skater take the whole affair. Never read the inboard rules...didn't get that far, but i think full out Champ boats are prohibited...don't know about other claases. i do remember thinking that one of our Shadow 21's with a 300x OB would do well with about an 85 mph top speed, but that was a few years ago. perhaps one of the Hills can provide an update?

from what I remember, the 2 liter class had to be the below the bottom requirement, otherwise you would be considered in the open class. 2 or 3 years ago it was won by a guy in a 19' Elemonator w/300 xs power. don't think he was observing the "below the pad" regulation. I'll try to get STV Keith to chime in, he has run the 2 liter class in the past. anyway, it looks like a large amount of "fun" to participate in. fun out

It was a 19' Cougar and he was legal with the engine height rule. The class that uses the old open cockpit Mod-VP boats are regulated to one inch below with 2.0L motors. Most type boats are legal up to 24' but no true tunnels allowed at any length. Start is staggered bases on qualifying lap times for each class. This is to try and keep the race as fair as possible for everyone. They do not have to be production ski boats either. Race bread boats are ok as long as they meet the rule requirements.

I don`t know how to copy links but for complete rules go to riverdavesplace.com
