If you are referring to Rule number 1 and 3. on page 17 of the updated 2015 rules it says WITHIN 1 hour of the final heat for that class protest forms must be obtained and filled out. Gas protest fee 375 dollars. I was still at the race site 2 hours after and never heard i didn't pass fuel. Other people found out at the banquet. or i found out on facebook 5 days later lol .

Let me see if I can shed some light on this situation for you guys. Not that I think it will matter but I can only read all of these "interpretations" for so long. The rule you are quoting above is specifically intended for you, the racer, to protest another racer. The same goes for the other protest listings, i.e. Motor protest, boat protest. These are for one racer to protest another. There is NO stipulation for the racer to protest being disqualified for a violation.

In regards to those stating they passed fuel on Saturday and not on Sunday. Not all tests are run both days. Just like motor tech, minor inspections are done on Saturday with possible complete tear downs on Sunday. We performed certain fuel tests on Saturday and all tests we have available were performed on Sunday. This is NOT the first time specific gravity has been performed by the ODBA, as some have tried to state, but we do not perform it at every event. This is is also not the first time we have had a large number of disqualifications for fuel. I know we had 4 not to many years ago at Jasper as well. Not that that really matters, just not this big conspiracy that some would like it to be. Last year was a completely different situation all together with a fuel issue, apples and oranges, not even close.

As far as everyone wanting to "know their numbers", we are not going to get into that. It's just simply irrelevant at this point. It's not pertinent to an open conversation. I'm sure those who were disqualified will disagree. That is your right, we will have to agree to disagree. We gave a liberal window to cover slight variances and those that were disqualified were well outside of that window. The fuel truck is a dedicated fuel provider, with a dedicated 112 supreme tank. All fuel samples were taken and monitored and never left unattended but we're ALWAYS in plain sight for anyone to monitor from outside of the inspection area. if you want have someone stand outside that area and monitor your fuel, your more than welcome too. Not gonna make a difference. The inspectors don't know the identity of the sample.

That being said, there is this constant necessity for those involved or more commonly not involved, to label a disqualified racer for whatever the reason, " a cheater". Let me state for the record, that the ODBA has no opinion on these disqualifications except to say they were outside of our window. Period. The "why" is not for us to say. We don't know why. And we don't have the ability to tell you why you failed. That's not the purpose of the tests we run. And it never will be. The ODBA and DSRA perform the same tests in the same manor and have for as long as I have been involved in heads up outboard drag racing (1998). We can keep on beating this horse, but it is quite dead. While being disqualified for any reason I agree is disheartening and upsetting, this constant "demand" for answers is not going to change anything simply because there are no answers to give that actually have any bearing. I believe it is due to the racer wanting the world to know they didn't "cheat". Well to reiterate, that's not coming from the ODBA, and if you are going to let other people define you as such, take it up with them and stop blaming the club, and its officials, and it's processes.

Finally, with all that being said, this past Jasper ran very late on Sunday and we finished literally before dark. By the time we had received the official results and identified the disqualified racers it was complete darkness. We were unaware of any affected racers still remaining at the race site and we regret the way the notification process took place but unfortunately it was unavoidable and something we plan to improve upon in the future. Because like it or not, this will not be the last time somebody gets disqualified for fuel, or coming in light, or failing motor tech, or some other violation of the rule book.

Just curious as an outsider, do the tests take into acocount those who pre-mix and those who don't? Or it it assumed everyone pre-mixes at 40:1 or whatever?

If someone was running a green motor (which cannot be pre-mixed ) for example with 100% gas and no oil is that taken into account? Or do you submit your oil ratio with the sample for that to be taken into account?

Yes we do. We have a base sample with no oil. As well as samples with different ratios. We try everything possible to recreate the racers given sample with the two products that should be present which is Sunoco 112 Supreme and Alisyn Oil. You might be surprised to know that oil ratio changes the test results very little.
