Go Pro Camera help
I had an old GoPro (about 3-4 years old) camera and just got rid of it. I am wanting to upgrade but there is so many choices out there now. I am looking for the best camera and accessories for high speed boating videos. What do you guys recommend? Also, I had suction cup problems with my old one, have they made better ones since? Thanks Todd

I have a GoPro Hero3+ Black edition and a Sony Action cam. If you want to record video while you drive I prefer the Sony because it has built in GPS and if you use the free Sony software to make the video it shows the GPS speed and route on the video for you whereas the GoPro doesn't. The Sony also has the ability to use an external microphone with just a 1/8" stereo microphone whereas the GoPro requires a miniUSB to 3.5mm adapter.
I think they are both very capable of giving you the quality video but the Sony is better for speed runs in my opinion. My girlfriend bought me the GoPro plus all the attachments and goodies etc...I bought the Sony myself because I wanted to record with GPS.
Just my 2¢ I hope it helps.

This is kind of cool, if you have GPS data to go along with your video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzGBJd8lJnI

In the waterproof case they are waterproof down to 197'
The Sony I have is an HDR-AS30V. It looks exactly like this except mine is black --> http://www.sony.com/electronics/actioncam/hdr-as200v-body-kit
I got mine from ebay, looks like this --> http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-HDR-AS3...item2c9c7ace98
I am sure there are other cameras that are even better than what I have but I love mine. If you use an external mic you can eliminate almost all the wind noise and hear the engines screaming clearly but it takes some time trying different locations to get the mic out of the wind.
Here is a video showing the built in GPS of the Sony. This is Mr Fast Eddie, Ed Perso, I think 16ft Superboat on here. -->https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_81opSHTV4
I love the on screen built in GPS...hands down my favorite camera for running. I use the GoPro for recording while I fish.

The current GoPro cameras are really fantastic - definitely better than they were in earlier generations.
I think one of the best alternatives is the Sony AZ-1.http://www.sony.com/electronics/actioncam/hdr-az1-kit

Garmin VIRB "elite" links up with certain other Garmin products for automatic GPS overlay... but of course the Garmin I bought was one model to "cheap" to link to the VIRB so I bought a "white" GoPro instead. http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-Virb-El.../dp/B00EOHUVTU
