Keith, if you are serious I have a ready to break-in 2.5 225HP power head custom built by James Perry at IPM. It has been sitting just in case one of the guys needed something ASAP that we can have Mario mount on one of my 20" mids as a loaner to make the race.
For those that do not know James Perry he is one of the most talent machinist and engine builder out there. Only 3 guys will ever touch my blocks....Diamond, James or Rich.

PS; Also like to mention that Mario IPM builds a good motor, has tons of knowledge on race setups and has always been very helpful on getting these guys out to make races!

Pete, that is what a friend does!
I was very glad to help you! LI guys know I'm in your corners...... Got to love Rich huh..... He is also a great guy with lots of knowledge and has probably been playing with these motor longer then anyone on LI. He is also an extremely talented machinist, no guess work with him..... AKA winy.....

I like the 2.5 (225 Promax) because its much lighter than a 3L. I like the balance better and that it is less strain on the transom in the rough. I ran a stock 2.5 200 EFI in Atlantic City (3rd place) and Manasquan (2nd place) so huge horsepower isn't necessary in the open water.
    Great post!

    .
I do believe a 3 liter won both those races With that said agreed the 2.5 is a better balanced boat and will cause less strain on the transom

2.5 is the motor for me. I love the power to weight ratio. Tony (tux) is a wealth of knowledge and always has just a few spare parts lying around. Mario from IPM knows his **** and builds great motors. Richie has been around the block a few times and is always willing to help. They are always a phone call away and always get us up and running in time. Pete and I wouldn't be doing as well without all there help. Thanks guys.

Tony that is the nicest and most generous offer I have ever received. Thank you so much but I am always afraid to use other people's things. I was hoping that my X would be legal so I would just have to change my setup and test. A whole new motor and setup will take a lot of time to compete with these guys. Nobody can just jump in and expect good results. I respect everyone who races, between the time, money and talent, it's a lot harder then most think. My Dad raced professionally for over 10 years inshore so I lived it. Would be fun though

Keith sell the x get a 2.5 and race next season. You and Walter would be a great team. Lots of good venue on the east coast. Im still debating putting a transom and stringers on the hull I have. Motor not an issue since Fuller has them laying all around the shop

    No problem!
If you change your mind I'm confident we can have you wet in a day or 2. If the motor blows it blows. Maybe food for thought for next year!
I know you know how to run that boat and will have things under control in a very short time.......
IMPO, 2.5 is the only way to go for these boats to run offshore! Keep in mind you are only running 60mph and basically racing the GPS not the guy next to you.

Just like to add that I consider myself very fortunate to be surrounded by some extremely talented people which makes things much easier for me to be able to help others in a positive way!

For all my engine building plus all info below these are the guys or establishments I use and would recommend,..... in no certain order:
Marty & Joe @ Diamond Marine.
    Rich Sandow
Mario @ IPM, AKA nosecone Mario.
    James Perry (wrenchen2)
    GerryB

    For LU's:
    Mario @ IPM
    Rich Snadow

For parts I use and have been using:
    Diamond Marine
    Fuller Marine
    Sanderson Marine
    ProMarine
    For my Yamaha Eric (Superbender)

For custom welding, block work and fabrications:
    Richie Sandow
    Charlie (Chaz)
    James Perry (Wrenchen2)

    Semi-Spec Class

I personally would prefer to race the guy next to me rather than the gps screen. I'd love to get a semi-spec class going in OPA. Semi meaning, the hulls we're running, 2.4, 2.5 with the exception of 280's and equal weights rig + crew. Actual weight will be determined to keep speeds in the 65mph range. Those of you who don't like the gps rule, but would actually race in a class like I described, please pm me. I spoke with one of the LI boys this morning who says he's in. I will start a fresh thread when I have more specific details.
    Thanks
    Pete

Ipm Mario has been building 2.5's longer than anyone I know, yes theres Marty and Joe, Im referring to local guys, he also builds most of the rebuilds that were sold on this board at one time or another, out of L.I.,he his a craftsman, he has engineered parts, gear cases, and a host of other things over the years, his motor rebuilds have always stood the test of time.... in my book he number one ish!!!
I know everyone thinks Im a Joey fan, but over the years Mario has done a ton of things for me, and I am one picky dude, he is one of 4 people I would let touch my stuff and in no particular order:
    Rob @ raybo
    Joey ECPM
    Mario IPM
    Ghost WNAHP Marine
    21 Tuff, Mercury 300X

    I hear you!
It sucks losing a race or even a first place finish due to breaking out (61mph) for 1.4sec.
Keep up the good work and most importantly be safe, I think this is a great and fun class!

Keep an eye out.....next season you just might see a new team "Scream&Flyer" driven my Frank Mole!.......

Sounds like a inside job Tony.
The more boats out there the better.
