Hydrostream Vector with a 15" motor

Are there any issues or problems putting a 15" motor with low water pickups on a stock Vector? Will a 15" leg have any problems picking up water pressure? I believe the Vector has a 23" transom. Would any set back be needed? Thanks

Hope this is not a dumb question, but are you going back with a 15" to replace a 20" that was bolted directly to the transom? Your question about setback makes me think you may be. That's gonna be a game changer I would think.

We used setback to give us more room around hydraulic steering but I know of some that bolted directly on trans. What steering u using?

The blue one^^^^ we knew it was getting a 15 when we rebuilt it so we drilled trans lower for that reason.

Both of ours are running a tad above the pad but can be lowered a tad below if needed.

I didn't know if bolting directly to transom would be low enough to pick up water. Thought mabe would have to use set back to get the moter lower.

A 15" with a sporty ON the transom will get water. Propshaft height will be in the 1/2"-1" above the pad on the transom. However, I would highly suggest you use a short setback plate for tuning purposes so you're not locked into a set motor height. However, whether dual cable or hydraulic steering, you may very well run into clearance problems with either the front cable tube or hydraulic ram clearing top of transom when trimming up above 1/2-ish to trailer heights.

I had a 20" 2.4 bass mid cut down to 15" with the large single cly trim clamp and swivel for my Vector project. The mid can not be sucked all the way in as it hits the cyl so it has bolts in the lowest trim stop holes.
Now this makes it so you can not trim down very much. So I got a bobs convertible and set it up with the 5"set back and offset angle.
This still did not leave room for the steering setup if I want to jack the eng down to below the pad.
So I got a set of wedges also from bobs. This gave me the clearance I needed and restored the ability to go negative with the down trim to the same as if the bolts where not in the trim holes.
This put the actual set back at 7". This will give me the clearance to install the Ride Guide duel opposed cable steering setup.

Does the mid hit the cylinder or is the top of the lower unit hitting? The trim cylinder on my mid has been shortened so I can run a coned case that isn't notched. Most 15" lower units have the top of the nose cone notched out or run a sporty/CLE.

The top of the bobs cone also has to be cut down 3.5" so it dose not hit the cyl with a 2.4 big bearing lower case.
The cyl is full size not shortened.

If you shorten the cly how far can you tilt up and down?
You still need the room for the steering setup if you go below the pad with a 15" mid on a Vector.
This was one of the reasons I am thinking of making a pad extension to get back the 7" of set back from this set up.
