Yes. Another Harry Schoell design & construction flop. But he made his money on it. Disney MGM Studios backed TV show that was created from a prior movie, called "The 100 Lives Of Black Jack Savage". It lasted less than a one season. The boat ended up soon after, thrown in a Disney back lot tour, in Orlando, rotting away. Remember the actor from Hardcastle & McCormick...his name was/is Daniel Hugh Kelly...he was the main actor on 100 Lives.

nice to see you back in the frow lilabner !!! My Father was eyebrow deep in Law Enforcement in Miami in the late 70's early 80's before this show hit. He pretty much was this Character before this show was a hit. always enjoyed the opening scenes of the bouncing Ta Tas in the parade. reminded me of nights at the Forge, and another place up that way. we lived on Kendall, at a condo named "Kendall Arms". hope to meet up in person some day. Fun Out

We did meet..Weren't you at Harrisons Museum one of those times? I was raised on South Beach. We lived on Palm Island. My mom taught at So Beach Elem, and my dad was Sr Captain in the MBFD on 12th and Washington, the old City Hall. We moved to Kendall in 54 and My mom taught at Perrine and then Palmetto Elem and High School. We lived next to PHS. I had some good friends that terrorized the Forge. You can read about them in American Desperados.

As FUJIMO posted, the show was "The 100 Lives of Black Jack Savage". I think they filmed about 7 episodes before it was over. The boat was the innovative creation of Harry Schoell of Schoell Marine, Inc. I think he still maintains a website where you can see a bunch of his stuff. "The Blackbird" was 44' long with a 24' beam from wingtip to wingtip! With twin Johnson 300hp V-8's, the boat ran mid 70's for speed. It was set up for stunts, tight turns, quick holeshots, etc. for the show, not for top end. Bobby Shockey of Boat Magic, Inc. in Miami was the dealer / technician that maintained the engines for the movie and weekly shows. Here are some pics.

lilabner, what do you know about the transformation of "Fort Apache" ? was there early, then came back after the change to it's current name, (who knows what it's called these day's) met a guy named Joe Rupert that owned 50% of it at the time, late 80's) after an ugly divorce I was on the scene again down that way. did some pennie's level of business with those guys. drove a billboard boat up n down the waterway along "Beercan Island" and enjoyed meeting the Girls at "Schanagans" the tension there was so high some dude came by me with my car door open standing on the street within a foot, I just decided it was a too hot a area for me to be in. Fun Out

Thanks to FUGIMO and Action1923 for the info on the Blackbird. With my sometimers disease I had forgotten the name of the show. I thought about going by Harrys place and asking Brownie. Harry built it!! Sure looks like a world record boat..
Fun, I'll tell you what I know when we go for a drink...If you were in the business then you would have a reason to be worried. I had a lot of dealers for customers, and they were all gentlemen. I never worried a bit..
