Bmep .....
Thanks for adding that explanation, I'm sure that answered a bunch of unasked questions. Sometimes those "engineer types" assume that just because they know what a group of capitalized letters stand for, everyone must know! I'm sure Jackie was busy typing the definition when your post appeared, that's the stuff he really likes to strut about.

A response from Lanpheer .....
Thank you, I appreciate your comment very much, happy to hear that you've enjoyed the chatter.
baldad45 wanted to know about the horsepower gain using the exhaust of the direct charge and Jackie made a request of Dick to not ask me for dissertations or anything similar, so I did send Dick an email passing along those comments. I received a response today, it is as follows:
Hey Bill,
Sorry for the delay in my reply. My ignition system is on the fritz again. I had a pacemaker installed 3+ years ago but there apparently has been some deterioration in my sinus node function and I have to get it fixed or I’m done. I’ll be going in for tests tomorrow and we’ll see how things go. The docs out here in the ...... desert are not the best. I think they took their internships at Home Depot or someplace like that. Maybe Menards???
I did want to say something about Jackie Wilson, particularly with him mentioning Hemingway, Shakespeare, etc. Is he implying that someone actually read those works to him? As I recall he doesn’t read, so . . . ..
Anyway, I remember Jackie. The only thing separating him from the rest of the drivers was distance and speed! Now don’t tell him I said that. I do not need a visit from his Uncle Vinnie right now!
Will catch you later.
Dick
Thought I'd pass this along, didn't want his "delightful" comments to be for my eyes only.

AW, C'mon Dick, stop siding with Willa, you'll wind up just as " widow twanky " as him.
Had a triple by-pass twenty five years ago, told 'em then it wouldn't work, never was able to function properly after it-----just knew it wouldn't last. They tell me it's the poxy batteries in the pacemakers--they sell 'em wholesale at Lowes, pack of 24 for $3-20. Bloody outrageous.
You still got that kooky piano with the skeleton keys ?????
Tried to get you to work with Rolla on props for the race team but GG would have none of it, thought he knew best----back in the day YOU were THE prop man at Mercury.
Sorry i lost track of you in the intervening years, but i seemed to be burning both ends and disappearing up my own rectum most of the time, now i just play in my workshop creating useless items to store in the shed till i kick the bucket, then there will be a big clear out and it will all get sent to the dump.
Get the ticker sorted then you can waste some time with the old farts in november shoot the sh-te and tell lies like the rest of us.
Can still get into bother on the S&F threads, specially if i get into it with some of the crazy wankel buffs.
They still think their KA_KA doesn't stink and God will somehow actually make 2 that work, but you and i know thats not ever going to happen.
As my Friend Bill says "You can teach a monkey to to make one, but he won't ever make one just like it" wise man.
You mention THE DESERT, is that the Gobi, Sahara or Kalahari, or that Mojave thing you have in western USA., send me an email Dick or Skype or FaceTime . i will always find time for you my friend.

Picture .....
This photo from Wilson's file has to be Molinari's shop in 1971. We are busy getting the new boats ready for the Paris and Berlin Six Hour races. The boat in the center of the picture has to be the "big boat" that Billy Don Pruett ran at the Paris with a C6. I think I described that boat earlier on this thread as a triple that Renato had built for himself to run special events with in Europe. Obviously, it was a twin before he stuck a center transom in it to run as a single for Paris. This boat was similar to the design of the twin Renato ran at Havasu in 1970, which was the fastest boat at Havasu that year. This is way before brakes were used, the holes in the transoms are for power trim cylinders.
At Paris in the 1970 race, the Merc team ran all sprint boats with the exception of the Molinari/Wilson entry. We even entered a 16' sprint for Merten/Sirois to try to fly across that churned up mess offered by the River Seine! It turned out to be a handful and Mert finally stuck it, nose first, damaging his kidney and handing it over to Tom Stickle to complete the fuel load run. The thinking for 1971 was just the opposite of 1970. It was decided to run much more conservative setups on the new 17'ers and to even run the "big boat" just in case the water was really bad. I had forgotten that this boat was tested with the Twister I before the C6 was mounted. If memory serves, that rig topped out at about 85 mph on fast water at Lake Como, by far our slowest entry. However, I think it was running third when a coil mounting bracket made by the idiot telling this story failed and ended a very interesting performance.

Wonder if the thatch is still there ? Lacking the suave debonair touch sans moustache, but sporting one of those very desirable MERCURY jackets.
My kids used to fight over the old one whenever I got a new one-----the silver one was the coup-de-grace,OMC. Tried to copy it, but they missed the boat, it didn't, have " THE CLASS"--Le- Elegance.

That at is a pretty impressive bunch of phoggies you have there Lassie.
Never knew Rick Frost won a race.
Wasn't Pittsburgh the death knell of the V8.
Talked to Jenks some time after the race and he said it scared the crap out of him and he did not want to race ever again.
You got a report on that race anywhere?
