Thank you for all you have done for the sport !
I follow the RX-7,8 club articles on a regular basis.
Always looking at the new developments in Rotary engines.
I see real power potential in putting a turbo powered rotary package together !
The Australians have built some fine Rotary examples.
I would like a 6-700 hp outboard that can turn 10 grand @ the drags
Call me a little crazy !

Now we both know there is no way that will ever happen, would be too easy to put an ILMOOR in it but would not be the real Mcoy.
Hells teeth------when nobody can get one right----why would you compound the problem with a dozen of them.
this time it's a fuel problem, next time a lube problem, metal fatigue, seals or sabotage, I have heard most of the reasons why it doesn't happen, looks like it's all ready to start over again.
didn't realize what a tall order I gave you all when I asked for just one example of a viable wankel. Nobody grabbed the batten.
heard about the wonderful snowmobile, but if it was that good why not now, today?
Let's not go down the RX7 road, even Mazda wished they never heard of it.
R/J tells me there are oil pumps in Alaska that have been running for years trouble free, and I'm sure there's a little old lady in downtown Wogga Wogga who has a ROTORY mixer that her grandma had when she was knee high to a wood pigeon.
give you that the 12 looks the part, but then they all looked the part before they were put into use.

[QUOTE=jackiewilson;2600768] Yes, I have read about the Smith 12 rotor motor.
And I heard they made a O/B too.
I grew up in the racing world, the first thing I learned
the harder its pushed, the shorter it lasts.
The 2.5 Mercury isn't noted for long life
The advantage of the Rotary is its compact .
The power to weight ratio is second only to the jet engine.
The Rotary motor has been a political football, it wins, its banned.
The aftermarket has done wonders in resolving issues.
Just like they have with piston engines,
A stock BBC is a piece of crap, the aftermarket makes all the good parts

Dominates it's banned enough said. 87 lamas 3 rotor dominated banned. Outboard rotary dominates banned...... It's not even half the age of piston engine of course it's not as developed.. People are afraid or don't like what's different or new.. It's natural don't worry.... My great grandfather hated outboards when they came out. Because you can't break down or run out of gas rowing....lol he just was set in his ways can't teach an old dog new tricks.i I get it.

The 767 Mazda La Mans race car was the 26 B motor a 4 rotor motor it never went into production. It put out close to 700 HP N/A @ 9000 grand
The 20B turbo motor was a 3 rotor motor and never sold in the USA
It is a great motor to hot rod, you buy the front clip and motor to get the ECM
The 13B is a 2 rotor motor that came in the RX-7, they had a few versions of this motor
The aftermarket makes aluminum side and center plates that can save 70 #s
We have 2.5 race motors and I know i can get more reliable power with a Rotary
set up
There is a jet boat with a aftermarket 4-rotor turbo that races those twisting ditch courses, they have produced 1600 + hp </safe77;2600876]dominates>Last edited by Big Steve 435; 02-22-2014 at 12:58 AM.

I definitely agree with getting more reliable power from a rotary. Hands down . And the13g was a three rotar that was used in the 84 lamans it was used in the 727. 4 rotor was later used in the late 80s dominating the competition. But they did use a three rotor almost identical everything except obviously the eccentric shaft. And the outside of the housings were smaller.. they also made 10a 12a 13a 13b 13g. There were So many but if u talk to an aussie or a puerto rican who knows there stuff most affordable fast street rotaries. Are 13b four port cosmo engines with a full bridge port turbo and rx8 renesis light weight rotars that seems to be the kick ass package.. my cousin and i have been running one for 6 years in a 1970 mazda r100. Puts down 480 hp and runs 10,80 s all day...
