Speaking of projects...Dan's boat is really coming along. The completion date on finishing gel work is coming up on us here and I can say it's looking awesome. To see one of the few original and immaculate Vegas' get a resto has been sweet to see and it will again be one of a kind when it's done. Looking forward to seeing the gel work done in the next few weeks and dropping this baby on a new trailer.

That thing looks pretty fresh...I'd like to see it in person. However, I don't know if that would be a good idea with all the projects I need to get my a$$ moving on. That title might have been registered with an incorrect length; all Vectors should be 17'1". That one in particular would be a great starting point for a resto with gel in that good of shape. Good luck with the sale and maybe I'll have to check it out one day for the fun of it

D.ONEAL is the original owner of this boat and he is pushing for an XS on the Vegas. Based off doing some research, I don't think the boat will need a lot of set-back with the weight of an XS. The boat originally had a 200 Looper on it, so when it's done it should be within reason of what the old set up was. The boat overall is probably the same weight as it was prior to the core work due to the thick transom and knee structure that were added. Looking at the XT bottom without the sub-floor really is a huge difference from any V-bottom. The core in an XT or even YT for that matter, is minimal compared to a V-bottom. With big stringers, stringer supports, and transom knee's running up to the underside of the splash-well, this Vegas should have zero structural issues ever.
Looking forward to seeing that project; up in Winona, Lakers Ventura was just tearing up the chop...definitely surprised me how it handled that kind of water. The Ventura is a really cool hull and obviously runs pretty damn well with a stout V4.Hydrostream Owners Group

My thoughts on the 300XS have been that I like the user friendly behavior and fuel economy of the new DI engines. The weight is at least 505 lbs. weather it is a 225, 250 or a 300 and the cost is not that much more. I think with the 300 it can be rigged to be user friendly and still run some good speeds. With that kind of power I will be happy with performance without it being set up to run on the ragged edge. I enjoy running hard but I do want it to be friendly enough for family boating with my grandchildren and long cruises. I am hoping that this combination gives me what I am looking for.
I have owned this boat since new so I am attached to it and have been excited through the whole process. I am grateful to Josh, Brian and the rest of the Power Tour for there help and advice. This thread is one of the thing that helped me decide to do this project
